Misused (alt names crowner 31 Oct 2021): Witch Species

I guess they were literally using it, not in the metonymic way we do...

As in they mean: "There's some bit of DNA that gives them magic" instead of Magical Bloodline stuff.

No? Would still like clearer connection between Superpowerful Genetics and the explanation further in the paragraph.

Fair enough. I haven't really kept up with this thread in a while.

I don't think it's that big a deal. I replaced it with generic stuff about bloodlines and kicked Superpowerful Genetics to "compare".

So... If that's true, what keeps some magic genes in humans from turning humans into a Mage Species, like in Harry Potter or something?

Just remove the line entirely then.

What about this first line that's still there?

"Sometimes this ability is present in every member of the species, while other times it is passed down through specific bloodlines."

...

And the end of that paragraph seems to be missing words?

"instead being something inherent or passed down developed."

I think we’re miscommunicating; those were the lines I said to remove if they didn’t make sense to you.

Oh, I didn't check the time well. I thought that latest deletion was you making the change.

Because you've been the one mainly running the box, and if it makes sense to you, I'd want to understand.

And I said upthread that the only reason the line was there was because the original description made such a big deal about it. I don't feel strongly about this.

... Human Subspecies... Are they different from Superpowerful Genetics because a Subspecies needs to be biologically different by themselves without powers messing with things, or something?

Human Subspecies are different from baseline humans, but aren't necessarily more powerful than them. Ex, a Human Subspecies could be things like a subspecies of people who have cat ears and tails after years of genetic modifications. That would hardly be considered a superpower that's passed genetically.

So, just possibly high overlap. Mmm. So a Human Subspecies with Superpowerful Genetics giving them magic, would be this trope...?

I don't see anything else that needs to be changed?

Other than needing more examples, I guess? But we have 1082 wicks to check. We should be fine there.

I swapped in the sandbox and moved Witch Species’ image, quote, and subpages to Mage Species. I’m going to try to crosswick the rest of the examples now.

Not sure if we wanted to redirect Witch Species or turn into a disambiguation, so I just redirected it to Mage Species for now.

I'd vote for disambig Witch Species between Mage Species, Our Witches Are Different (it's previous common misuse), Our Mages Are Different, Witches and Wizards, and Superpowerful Genetics.

e: misread the previous post a bit, but I'd like to hear if we're redirecting or disambiging, don't recall it being decided yet.

Sorry for the double post, but I turned Witch Species into a disambiguation page using the tropes previously suggested, as well as Witch Classic. The short descriptors might need work, though.

Edit: Page type was set to disambiguation and an entry was added to the Ambiguity Index.

I cleaned some of the wicks a few days ago but didn’t report to the thread because I do get rid of significant amount.
