I think we'd mostly be getting the examples from elsewhere on the wiki. In a sense, we'd already be crosswicking.

Indeed. That's the issue with crowner options that depended on other crowner options. Maybe we should...not make crowners like that anymore. If a conditional option does well but the option it is dependent on fails consensus, it's pretty much moot.

I agree. Conditional options should be put on subsequent crowners.

So, if I read that right, if for example "Rename" was chosen, we'd follow up with an Alt Names crowner. That is okay.

Is it possible people misinterpreted the option as a vote for both IUEO and Unlock/Crosswick? Maybe? Idk. It's very strange.

I also suspected drive-by voting, actually, since the thread's posts seemed to lean toward IUEO (but I could be mistaken), but that option didn't get enough consensus despite that.

I am still not sure if making the page IUEO is the best idea since people playing a game to see how bad it is a valid audience reaction that does happen with many bad games.

My concern about not making it IUEO is that the audience reaction could be easily used as a complaining magnet. Ideally the entries should just describe the reaction and not agree with it, but I don't trust people not to do the latter.

It's certainly a way audiences react, but that doesn't mean it can't involve complaining. So Bad, It's Horrible involves audience perception of bad works, but it's rightly classified as Flame Bait.

It's also very similar to Snark Bait, which was recently made Flame Bait.

That is why I think keeping the definition the same and changing it to Flame Bait while allowing On-Page examples is the best idea since it is easier to monitor complaining.

But then, what's the point of even having it if it's pretty similar to Snark Bait which is also Flame Bait? Making it IUEO means there's at least something unique about it.

Anyway, that option didn't gain consensus, so I guess it's moot.

It wouldn't mean the definitions aren't still uncomfortably similar to the point where I wouldn't feel comfortable having both in the same namespace.

I have no idea what to do here. The option we all wanted lost the crowner likely because of drive-by voting, and I don't want to do another crowner because we should still respect the results of the prior one. Is there anything left to do here?

Frankly, my sense would be to close this thread and start another one if/when the trope goes south again.
