Bumping. Is there enough consensus to make a crowner? Which options should be included, aside from:

  • Define Hermaphrodite as a character with both male and female reproductive organs.

I've created a crowner, please review before hollering to hook.

I honestly think that with the options there they're a bit mutually exclusive.

I agree to keep it characters with fully functional sets of male and female reproductive organs but I don't like the hard lines set by

Define Hermaphrodite as including any species that has exactly two functional sets of genitalia, one male and one female. This may be mutually exclusive with other options.

&

Define Hermaphrodite as including only humans with exactly two functional sets of genitalia, one male and one female. This may be mutually exclusive with other options.

The second excludes characters like Makaoto in Boku no Futatsu no Tsubasa who is eventually revealed to be a Human Alien while the first would exclude Bel Thorne from The Vorkosigan Saga who I mentioned up thread who is a genetically modified human (and by extension characters who are otherwise normal humans who accquire the state through sci-fi or supernatural means).

As such while I will cheerfully downvote the other options I can't upvote either of the quoted options.

I do suggest whatever option is decided on might include an internal soft split to differentiate from non-humans for whom this is default condtion and humans characters.

Why is "Define Hermaphrodite as including anyone who has transitioned from one gender to another" even an option? The word has never meant that.

Yeah, that's...a weird option to even include.

It was mentioned in this thread, so I included it with the expectation that people would vote against it.

Yeah, the numerical strictness of "two sets" is interesting. What happens if there's some three-sex species of alien, etc?

Are we using the human baseline here and all other numbers are Bizarre Alien Biology?

If so, why pick out Hermaphrodite? I have similar issues with Winged Humanoid, but that's a side issue.

Does the first option (any species with genitals from multiple sexes) mean that this must be a feature of the species (i.e. a subtrope of Bizarre Alien Sexes)? Or can it include individuals of any species who have this feature? If the latter, does this include humans?

[up] Yeah, I don't think that should be specific to species.

Does "Define Hermaphrodite as including any character or species that has all the characteristic sets of genitalia of the species. This may be mutually exclusive with other options." work better as a definition? I am not sure it does.

No, we're using bisexual reproduction here and all other combinations are intersex.
Does the first option include individuals of any species who have this feature?
Yes — it says character or species, so it can apply at the individual level even when the species generally has only one or the other.

I think concerns about the crowner have been addressed. How about a twelve-hour timer for someone to object further before the hook?

This is the current winner at 10 Consensus, with any lower ones being 1:6 negative or worse. I don't think they can recover. Anyone else?

Correct. Hermaphrodite has 638 wicks to clean. The redirect Intersex should be cleaned first and then cut. Should the other redirect, Futanari, be retargeted or converted to a Fan Speak page?

Second and second-to-last? Aye, they can go although leaving a statement about how hermaphrodite is not a synonym of intersex makes sense.

Crown Description:

This trope has collected use for many works/characters that are not simply "male and female genitalia that work". Here are different options going forward.
