Misused (alt names crowner Feb 9, 2020): Those Two Bad Guys

Can't that go under Evil Duo? Brutish = id, smarter = superego. Or Brains and Brawn as applicable.

Evil Duo seems really general, honestly. It might need help of its own.

I feel like Mister X And Mister Y covers the "duo of bantering villains" concept. Unfortunately, that page has an almost completely useless description and is also on Tropes Needing TRS. I could try to fastrack a thread on that if it would help this one.

The examples on that seem entirely about the naming convention, which doesn't help.

And because we're on a new page, 1984 wicks for Those Two Bad Guys.

There are only 29 wicks, so Not Thriving may be applicable as well.

...someone added the following Laconic to Bumbling Henchmen Duo: "Those Two Bad Guys who are Laughably Evil to the antagonist." Talk about missing the point... :D

Down to 1950 wicks. The fact that Those Two Bad Guys is listed as an Overdosed Trope is a bad sign...

So do we do something with what Those Two Bad Guys was originally intended to be, the "bantering duo of villains" such as Croup and Vandemar, Jules and Vincent, Pin and Tulip etc.? It was suggested above that Mister X And Mister Y should cover that, but I see no progress in this respect.

All Western Animation wicks A-J are cheaned up; 1826 left. I plan to finish the namespace later. If the wicks keep getting added even after cleanup is finished, I'd consider Permanent Red Link Club treatment for it.

Nah. During and post-TRS cleanup, it’s just a matter of informing the public. I sometimes check the wicks of finished pages and PM people who add them to inform. PRLC is for pages that are consistently problematic.

Also... we seriously have Those Two Animals? That's... Those Two Guys, but animals... even worse than Those Two Guys, but bad.

While de-wicking I also added a few wicks for Mister X And Mister Y... and looking at that page, the only "context" for the examples is often that they are Those Two Bad Guys, therefore are named like this.

This is convincing me more and more that Mister X And Mister Y should be reworked into "a pair of bantering, often Wicked Cultured criminals" - i.e. what Those Two Bad Guys was originally intended to be.

I created a thread for Mister X and Mister Y. It probably won't be opened for a while given the backlog but it's there.

One question regarding Bumbling Henchmen Duo: can we include characters that are independent villains rather than working for a major antagonist, but otherwise tick all other boxes (there's two of them, funny, evil, incompetent, always together)? If so, the description should be tweaked that way; if not, some of the examples and wicks should be removed. I am in favor of including them (see earlier discussion).

Several people have expressed surprise on the Mister X And Mister Y thread that Those Two Bad Guys isn't a trope anymore. Perhaps something should be done to Those Two Bad Guys to make it more clear.

Normally in a rename we would redirect Those Two Bad Guys to the new name, though I don't think we should do that until we get a consensus on Mister X And Mister Y. But maybe we should put a note on Those Two Bad Guys that's a bit stronger than the TRS notice there?

I think we could redirect to Bumbling Henchman Duo for now, given that that was the primary course of action in its thread, and then disambiguate based on the results of this thread?

Disambiguate Those Two Bad Guys between Bumbling Henchmen Duo and Mister X And Mister Y. The latter link can and will be handled when this thread closes.

I agree with this idea.

Before doing that, though, let's move the self-demonstrating description and the on-page examples to Sandbox.Those Two Bad Guys or something; I believe a lot of the on-page examples will be useful for the reworked Mister X And Mister Y, and the description could be moved to a separate Self-Demonstrating page.
