Character pages are a large chunk of the wiki, but they're often filled with problems that don't get resolved. These problems include:
- Zero Context Examples
- Indentation problems, including bulleting tropes under supertropes or tropeslashing
- Spoiler tag misuse
- A lack of alphabetization
- Empty character folders
- Plagiarized character descriptions
- Misused tropes, or tropes that don't belong on character pages
- Broken or incorrect formatting
- Subjective / Trivia trope mentions
Per How to Create a Character Page, character pages should only include tropes that describe the characters. These tropes should fall under Characterization Tropes or one of its related indexes, Unless they're recurring character traits (distinctive things that the character does repeatedly). If you're unsure what counts as a character trope, you can ask about that at Are These Character Tropes.
All characters must have at least one contextualized trope for their section or folder to be visible. If you find a character that has no contextualized tropes present, comment out the entire section and add this tag:
Other relevant threads:
- Problems with pre-existing images on Characters page need to go via Image Pickin'. Low quality images can usually be upgraded without discussion, but don't change or delete images without Image Pickin' approval.
- Character Specific Pages have their own separate cleanup thread
- Self-demonstrating character pages also have their own thread.
- Inanimate objects and locations on character pages have their own cleanup thread
- Character pages for Reality Show contestants are on-topic here, but there's also a dedicated Reality Show cleanup thread which deals with the No Real Life Examples, Please! grey areas these shows create, and may sometimes be a better place to discuss them.

Eh, true. You know what I mean, though.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessCharacters.Jorels Brother has a lot of ZCEs and shoehorning.
Keet cleanupThere's barely anything salvageable on the Zoobles characters page. Every entry is ZCE or has bad description, some of them are shoehorns, none of the characters have pictures, all characters from the last folder lack tropes, the only good thing are the descriptions.

I'm mainly a fan of underrated media. Not formatted properly, and tropes are not alphabetized.
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportRan into Characters.SOS Pretty Cure while cleaning up Self Demonstrating links.
This is a fanfic. I'm fairly certain that it's not going to have its characters be voiced by celebrities in languages they don't even speak. (Also ZCE and all that other fun stuff.)
All of that troper's pages have problems like that, and I think a lot of them are for things that don't actually exist as fanfics
Absolute destiny... apeachalypse?Fake work page = instant cut.
I had a dog-themed avatar before it was cool.It actually seems like a legit fanfic, just not a usual site. See this and this for it. It doesn't absolve the page of other problems it might have, I'm just sayin'.
Currently mostly inactive. An incremental game I tested: https://galaxy.click/play/176 (Gods of Incremental)Characters. This Is The Worst Idea Youve Ever Had is chock-full of ZCEs. Can it be salvaged?
Contains 20% less fat than the leading value brand!Another case of ZCE plus spoiler tag violations (and a few other violations as well): Characters.Entropy.
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportGenerator Pretty Cure is almost all ZC Es. Weirdly, there doesn't seem to be a main page to move valid entries to. What to do?
Edit: After looking into it a bit more, I realized the page has had no non-cleanup edits since 2013, and based on a google search the fanfic doesn't actually exist on the internet. So I cutlisted it.

"It's just a show; I should really just relax"The original page creator hasn't been active since 2013, either, so seconding the cut.
Jawbreakers on sale for 99¢So I have a problem with certain character pages having a "Species" header, mostly due to me feeling that it has an arbitrary level of importance given to it, like on Injustice 2 or Characters.Death Battle Season One (which is inconsistent with the other DB pages, mind you). Other pages like MCU: Citizens – New York City Midtown School of Science and Technology I feel the header is redundant given that every character on that page is a human.
Whenever I see something like that I always amuse it is because that is how the franchise/work's wiki does it an people are trying to copy the style. I do think such headers can be easily worked into the description.
Knowledge is Power, Guard it WellIf it helps, I think I might know who started the whole trend. Back in 2017, Master Hero added the headers to Characters.MCU Avengers Initiative and I guess it spread from there.
Characters.Curious George has two folders with default text, among other things.
Contains 20% less fat than the leading value brand!Characters.Yellow Submarine is mostly empty. Should it be cut?

back lolCharacters.Com Media needs a look. There are not only ZC Es but also subbulleted tropes (most of them being textbook ZCE).
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportSonic the Hedgehog (2020) still has examples referencing the original design.
Are they in reference to the trailers, and have citations? If so, the information is valid.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessHere's two:
- Adaptational Ugliness: Averted. In the first trailer, Sonic's realistic design has made him look downright hideous, and more like a bad bootleg version of himself. In the rest of the trailers and the actual movie, however, he looks much more like his video game counterpart, which was a result of fan backlash.
- Adaptation Dye-Job: Averted. His peach arms, stomach, and muzzle were initially blue, white, and white respectively. After the redesign, his colors are far more accurate to his game design: the only exception is that his arms are still blue, which even then actually heeds to his design in Sonic Boom.
While I can't comment on the actual examples (I haven't seen the film or played a sonic game since the days of the Mega Drive) but if they are appropriate, wouldn't they be Subverted rather than Averted as it would have/was expected to happen from the trailer only for it not to actually happen?

Knowledge is Power, Guard it WellThose just sound like general trope misuse, but the fact that they're discussing the redesign isn't an issue in and of itself.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessCharacters.Jewelpet and its subpages have been riddled with ZCE and trope misuse/shoehorning for as long as I can remember. More often than not, when I run into it during wick cleanups, the wicks are almost always ZCE or misuse of some sort.
Not sure when I will tackle them but I will try to tidy them at some point. Although some characters arent going to have any tropes once the pages get cleaned though. I wish I was familiar with the work . Would make cleaning a lot easier.

Macron's notes
Eh, depends on the size of the page. If it's near the page size limit, 25% good material could still be quite substantial and worth keeping as a page after cleaning.
