This is a thread for checking up on pages for works that have not been released yet, to make sure that they are not straying into rampant speculation or posting crazy behind the scenes spoilers. You can bring both individual examples or entire pages to attention here.
In extreme cases, any page can be locked, but hopefully that won't be necessary.
(As these pages often are hit with zero-context examples and shoehorning as well, all four - speculation, spoilers, ZCEs, and shoehorning may get addressed simultaneously.)
The policy governing this effort is Creating A Work Page For An Unreleased Work. Cleanup is being tracked using the Unreleased Works sandbox.
All pages for unreleased works should include a %% comment at the top of the page, confirming the policy and linking to this thread and the Administrivia page. It doesn't have to be exactly the same as the example provided here, but this provides a template to work with.
%% Speculative troping is not allowed on TV Tropes.
%%
%% We trope what DOES happen in works, not what MIGHT happen or is LIKELY to happen.
%%
%% For unreleased works where all we have to go on is advertising and other supplemental materials, we have some detailed guidelines, which can be found at Administrivia/CreatingAWorkPageForAnUnreleasedWork.
%%
%% NOTE - these rules also mean that unreleased works should only have one page image, and that image should NOT be changed again until the work is released.
%%
%% If you have questions, please consult the Unreleased Work Speculation Cleanup thread at https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=15514631230A64268600

Remake Cameo is actually broader than cameo — "or perhaps even a supporting role", per the description — but I agree it would be prudent to wait to at the very least hear his voice in something.

I managed to get three tropes into that page. That should get us to the trailer. After that, I'll see what can be added from there.
Posters are considered advertising, though, not part of the trouble work.
Per Administrivia.Creating A Work Page For An Upcoming Work:
Fair enough. I was desperate. But at any rate, there’s enough in the trailer to justify the page. It is safe from the cut list. Next time, we will wait for the trailer. If anyone wants to take out the poster examples from the movie, go ahead.

The Owl House and Coyote Vs Acme are my Roman Empire. Why are you "desperate"? What mental anguish do you gain surcease from by writing a pre-release TV Tropes article?
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Desperate was probably the wrong word. I apologize. Like I said, it will not happen again.
So to be clear, should poster tropes like Evil Overlooker be taken off unreleased work pages? I can and will take it off Disenchanted (2022).

The Owl House and Coyote Vs Acme are my Roman Empire.YMMV.The Super Mario Bros Movie:
- Fridge Brilliance: Mario, Luigi, Toad, Bowser and Kamek all appear in the teaser, but Peach is nowhere to be seen. The princess is in another castle.
Too much of a stretch?
TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupToo much of a stretch.
I had a dog-themed avatar before it was cool.Okay, so on WesternAnimation.Velma, someone added Shaggy under Race Lift because of his voice actor being black and a first look image depicting him as black. First look images are off limits right? Some boat as posters?
I also never got my answer about Film.Disenchanted 2022.
One last thing. They made a characters page for WesternAnimation. The Super Mario Bros Movie. No character tropes yet, but I figured you all would want to keep an eye on it.

The Owl House and Coyote Vs Acme are my Roman Empire.Long story short, there's been an edit war on Pokémon Scarlet and Violet where someone kept commenting-out cited examples... as well as a few uncited ones. You're not supposed to trope things that have only been revealed on the official website, right? Because I can't remember what trailer Paldean Wooper was revealed in, and I'm terrible at skimming through videos to find what I'm looking for.
^Paldean Wooper is from a trailer, but I don't remember how much information is given there. I don't think much.
Websites are Word of God, so aren't citable I don't think.
Unrleatedly. Characters. The Super Mario Bros Movie went up a while ago without a citation to be seen. I'd go through it myself but it's extremely late where I am, so if anyone else wants a crack at it before I wake up, here ye be.
Sorry, that was me. I thought first-look images were fair game for the page...
If it isn't though, I can delete it.
Removed the Fridge Brilliance entry from YMMV.The Super Mario Bros Movie.
The Marvel Comics event/relaunch Fall of X has just been announced at NYCC.
At this point the only official information is the one liner here, there's no exact date etc., and there's an assumption it'll be an event running in some of the current X-Men books, possibly with some new ones launched alongside it, but that's all.
~Professor Magic 89 has just created a page for it, but so far it's only got one trope - and that's a bit vague and based on a Word of God quote, not anything on Marvel's site or other pre-release info.
At this point, unless we have more information added, it feels like it will be swiftly heading to the cut list. I've added the usual pre-release note, just in case it stays.
How long do we give it before adding to cutlist?
Edit: ProfessorMagic89 has just messaged to confirm that it's unlikely to get the necessary detail in the near future. Adding to cutlist now.

From WesternAnimation.Transformers Earth Spark:
- Gender Flip: Just like in the last cartoon, Cyberverse, the Decepticon Skywarp will be a female in this continuity as opposed to the usual male portrayal.
Actually, there are a few examples on the page that need to be corrected.

The Owl House and Coyote Vs Acme are my Roman Empire.I have a question less about the work itself and more about its placement on the Sandbox listing. Film.Spirited 2022 got its teaser today so I had it moved into the top folder and put it in under its streaming date. However, it’s getting a limited theatrical release a week earlier. Which date should I organize by?
The Owl House and Coyote Vs Acme are my Roman Empire.Might as well go by the theatrical release.
I had a dog-themed avatar before it was cool.Is that something we’ve been doing for other streaming films that get early theatrical releases?
The Owl House and Coyote Vs Acme are my Roman Empire.I moved it up to just behind Black Panther, but I will move it back down if need be.
Do we wanna do the same with Film.Emancipation?

The Owl House and Coyote Vs Acme are my Roman Empire.Question: Do we want to create a unique page for The Santa Clauses Miniseries or do we wanna put that on the Film. The Santa Clause page with the sequel?
And do we want to do the same with National Treasure: Edge of History and Film.National Treasure?

The Owl House and Coyote Vs Acme are my Roman Empire. What exactly are the requirements for requiring citations? because Sonic Frontiers has a lot that are commented out due to lack of them, but a few seem a bit too much, such as commenting out a trope that says the character Sage has white hair, that levels take place in cyberspace, and that a song by ONE OK ROCK featured in the game has edited lyrics. The first one is just general promotional material, and you can just look up the song in the last example; the band and title are included. Aren't those enough?
Anything and everything can be a lie or changed last minute, so all examples have to be cited. Think of it as we are troping the trailers, not the final product. A character can be removed entirely from the final product, so you have to say where you saw the girl with Mystical White Hair. A level can be relegated to DLC/a future installment or removed outright, so you have to say which trailer showed the cyberspace. They can change the ending theme at the last minute, so you have to say which promo material revealed the ending theme.
Pokémon: Generation IX Families feels like it's avoiding the upcoming works' citation rule by being a character page. Almost nothing on there is correctly cited.
Edited by Synchronicity on Oct 17th 2022 at 1:03:29 PM
Same thing happened on the Generation VIII page. Should we go through the same "lock the page until release" routine?
I had a dog-themed avatar before it was cool.Uncited material also tends to get added to older generations' pages for evolutions of older Pokémon. In that case, the best option would probably be manual policing.
Also, just for clarification — "the games' website says such-and-such" is not considered an acceptable prerelease source, correct?
that's comically excessive. Sage literally has a character page. Feel like giving extreme hypotheticals like that kind of undermines the idea behind the increased scrutiny for prerelease material.
This entry strikes me as sheisty. How does a poster "tease" a role for voice actor? How do we know it's a cameo and not a substantial part? Seems like the kind of thing that would need the full work for context.
