At first, I thought they got the character designer of Panty and Stocking, but no, I was thinking of Atsushi Nishigori, not Shigeto Koyama.
Rats.
But you know what? After reading how Darling in the Franxx turned out (not getting into specifics due to spoilers), I'm up for anything that's brainless, hot-blooded, and badass.
And Promare looks to be all three. So Bring It.
(Please don't play with our emotions, Trigger...)

Let hope Galos doesn't have any Postcard Memories....

Watch SymphogearFixed it. Should've done that when I started the forum. Ever since the new layout, it's been doing that everytime I start a new forum for some reason.
The storm has now resided, the wolf now rests. We have a new trailer and more information.
By this point, I think that we have enough information for a Tropes page.
The storm has now resided, the wolf now rests.Might be gonna follow the movie cuz why not. Anyways, heard that this movie is set on the same universe of Gurren Lagann. Is that true?
"Making screw-ups and mistakes was I ever really good at. Because everything I touch went to hell."Not sure, but it's got a Kamina lookalike in it.
I've heard of it for quite some time and just saw the trailer. Kinda dropped or missed out on Trigger's recent works, but I can say I got quite hyped this time.
Edit: speaking of which (while trying to avoid spoilers)... How about Darling in the Franxx? I was getting the sensation that they the sexual allegory was interesting, but not really enough to justify the fanservice (or crazy enough, like Kill la Kill), so kinda lost interest. Does it get better?

... And that's called jazz!Go fro Gridman instead. Its based on a cult classic Toku Property, but is all the more better than Dit F.
The only thing the latter has going for it is Zero 2.
Watch SymphogearI actually liked Franxx if only for the relationship between Hiro and Zero Two. But yeah, it is quite heavily flawed, and Trigger has made other better shows.

I am low-key disappointed Lio isn’t a woman because obviously he & Not-Kamina are gonna have an intense borderline sexual rivalry.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Well, either Kray or Ignis is evil, I can tell you that much.

Back from the theater!
Well… If you've read the names "Trigger", "Imaishi" and "Sawano", that tells you everything need to know about this movie. This is a Trigger anime through and through, full with a planet-sized robot at the end, because why wouldn't there be one.
I'll admit it took me a while to get used to the color palette. At first it almost looked like a 3D movie without the glasses with all those yellow-cyan-magenta shades and strange lighting effects. I'm also not sure if that was by design of if the sound mixer messed up, but during action sequences the dialogue was almost completely drowned by the music and sound effects, to the point I'm not sure even a Japanese audience could get half of it. My last complaint would be that some of Lio's explanations for the Burnish's actions felt a bit bullshity. "Sure, we burn cities, but that's because we can't help it, and at least we don't kill anyone." Yeah, tell that to the people who lost their homes… It almost sounded like a soldier saying "Sure, we bomb cities to oblivion, but at least we warn the population in advance."
On the positive side, the action was wonderfully directed and the two mains were compelling enough, as well a few side characters (Professor Heris notably). And I appreciate that they didn't pull out the copout card of "the villain doesn't actually believe in what he says and is just an egomaniac." I mean, he is an egomaniac but he genuinely thought that the Earth was doomed and that his plan was the only way to save humanity. That keeps the conflict interesting. Also, it's a detail but it's refreshing that when Galo has to do flaming mouth-to-mouth to Lio to ressuscitate him, he just slightly hesitates for a second but then is all "Ah fuck it, here goes nothing" instead of being all creeped out.
It's a bit of a Cliché Storm at times and a couple of female characters like Lucia or Aina feel underutilized, but beyond that, I don't know… it's kind of a breath of fresh air among anime movies. Not that there haven't been plenty of wonderful ones in the last few years − In This Corner of the World, Your Name, A Silent Voice, Liz and the Blue Bird, Mirai no Mirai, Penguin Highway, Children of the Sea… but they kinda all have a similar vibe? Slice-of-life dramedies with occasionally a bit of fantasy mixed in. When was the last movie that was just crazy, bombastic, non-stop action like this one (outside of franchise movies)? I think it was REDLINE, and that was 9 years ago… So yeah, that was a fun time.
We got an English trailer...

…Wait, it's not out in the US yet?
No wonder this thread is so barren. >.>
It came out in theaters while I was back in the States, so I kind of forgot about it. Is it still running?
It's been fun.
I'm opening up a thread for the upcoming Anime Promare because we finally have more information on it.
It'll feature mechs called "Matoi-Tech", and it's staff includes Shigeto Koyama as character & mechanical designer and Sushio as an animator.
Also, the main protagnist "Not-Kamina's" real name is Galo, and he's a new recruit in a rescue team.
