Yeah, I was giving the the soundtrack a listen the other day and thought someone switched it to the Rebuild soundtracks when I wasn't looking.
Certainly not bad, but a bit more diversity would be nice.

PSN ID: FateSeraph | Switch friendcode: SW-0145-8835-0610 Congratulations! She/TheyI would have loved to Hear Shiro Sagisu's take on the Godzilla theme.
Watch SymphogearSeriously, WHY are Godzilla's arms stuck in the same palms-upward position like he's holding a giant invisible burrito? Some rotation in those things would be nice.

Well, Godzilla is based on a therapod dinosaur and their claws look like they are holding a burrito.
But their palms (when at rest) are facing down. Godzilla's are facing upwards all the time as if they're stuck that way.
I don't see the point in nick picking that, really.
Watch SymphogearIt just sticks out like a sore thumb in terms of awkwardness (yes, even moreso than the beady eyes and bad dental health).
Good news for Filipino Godzilla fans:
OK, so I read this, and it might be slightly bad news for those who were expecting to see Godzilla Resurgence on the 24th, but think of it this way: At least, there's more time to get ready for the movie.
I'll probably watch this with my brother just to see if there's more scenes of Godzilla in this movie than in Legendary's Godzilla.
"Learn as if you will live forever, live as if you will die tomorrow."Speaking of screentime, I found these series of charts that document the amount of screentime Godzilla has in his movies. According to them, the 2014 does have the some the least amount of screentime for the big G. Some interesting tidbits:
- Godzilla has the most amount of screentime in Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II, and the least amount in Invasion of Astro-Monster.
- Godzilla vs. Gigan has the most amount of monsters breaking shit, while Godzilla (2014) has the smallest amount.
- Mechagodzilla has the most amount of screentime out of Godzilla's co-stars, while Varan has the least amount.

Poor Varan. He never gets any respect.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?I agree completely. Hell, his presence in Destroy All Monsters wasn't even acknowledged by the characters!
Give Varan a comeback, Toho!
They were gonna make Varan have a comeback on at least two occasions.
The original idea for Godzilla vs. Gigan (called The Return of King Ghidorah instead) was going to have him and Rodan team up with Godzilla to fight King Ghidorah, Gigan (who in this movie had a flail weapon on his hand) and an original monster that they ultimately never made called Mogu. They never made it because their budgets were running on the cheap and they didn't want to use money to make new costumes.
Years later, the original idea for Godzilla, Mothra, and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All Out Attack was that instead of King Ghidorah and Mothra, it'd be Varan and Anguirus (and Baragon). They dropped Varan and Anguirus because they weren't popular in Japan, but Baragon apparently is super popular. They kept some of the director's ideas for Varan by incorporating them into Ghidorah.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?I am well aware of those unmade movies, which only serves to rub salt on the wound.
I mean, to be fair, what would Varan offer that other monsters couldn't?
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?Polygon Pictures is animating it, the directors of Ajin and The Detective Conan movies will direct it, and the Urobutcher himself is scriptwriting.
Watch SymphogearOh shit, that studio did Transformers Prime.
This gun be good.
I like how Toho seems to be experimenting with Godzilla quite a bit lately.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?Just got back from watching today's second screening of Godzilla Resurgence (didn't make it to the first one, sadly). And to the WMG entry mentioning the possibility of an English-dubbed release, the release over here was sub-only.
The movie is really Evangelion-esque in its cinematography (such as the shots of tanks in line formation firing at Godzilla to no avail). And heck, even some of the characters are downright expies of Evangelion characters! That female scientist? Dr. Ritsuko Akagi instantly comes to mind. Kayoko Ann Patterson? Basically a live-action Misato Katsuragi. Even Godzilla's ability to fire atomic breath lasers is reminiscent of the angel Ramiel. Perhaps Hideaki Anno is testing the waters for a potential live-action adaptation of Evangelion?[/wmg]
The downside I could say about this movie is that...with the subtitles going rather quick at times (sometimes with not-so-good timing thanks to being crowded at the bottom), I'm not able to catch some of the main characters' names. I only managed to identify the maverick member of the Japanese government who forms an anti-Godzilla team (Yaguchi) after a plan to stop Godzilla was named after him. And I only recognized Kayoko thanks to reading the trope page for this movie and how distinctly...Westernized she is compared to majority of the Japanese cast.
But for those who are Just Here for Godzilla and were disappointed with Godzilla's minimal amount of screen time in the Legendary film, you'll be able to eat your heart out here...as soon as you get past the painfully slow scenes of bureaucratic processes and the occasional Cloverfield-esque Jitter Cam.
That being said, this reboot manages to retain the aesop from the 1954 film about the dangers and horrors of nuclear technology (and nuclear war). Which leads to a bit of Fridge Horror when you consider what would happen if Yaguchi's team failed and the Americans went ahead and nuked Godzilla (along with Tokyo). The biggest Fridge Nightmare Fuel for me would be how China (and Russia) will move in the aftermath of that...
"Learn as if you will live forever, live as if you will die tomorrow.""Give Varan a comeback, Toho!"
He (along with Titanosaurus,Baragon,Anguirus and possibly Manda) would fit in pretty well in the legendary universe being ancient prehistoric monster! Though it makes me wonder what kind of origin King Ghidorah is gonna have in the sequel, rival predator maybe?

You know, if you look at the general shape of Shin-Godzilla (mostly from the front), he basically looks like a plucked turkey that got rack tortured.

Didn't Zilla from the '97 movie start off as a cute ickle tadpole or baby lizard of some sort and end up as the city-wrecking, missile dodging thing we eventually ended up with?
Full disclosure: I LOVE that movie. Apart from that useless reporter person, who would still be useless if it was a guy rather than a girl. Her performance was so bad it had to be by directorial fiat.
He started as an iguana, then radiation turned him into a giant.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell? So, shin Godzilla has been out in american theaters since O Ct 11, and has extended to oct 27.
I haven't seen it yet, and I might not be able to in theaters, but to those who did, what did you all think of it?
Watch SymphogearIf anyone on thread enjoys riffing the sillier entries in the Godzilla franchise, the SynchTube Troper Coven is going to be watching Godzilla vs. SpaceGodzilla tonight is anyone wants to join us.
Legendary's Godzilla sequel officially subtitled "King of Monsters" ala "The Dark Knight" or "Man of Steel"
I haven't seen that mentioned yet but I sort of see what you mean.
EDIT: Listening to the OST.
It's good but I think Sagisu needs to give the choirs a break lol
EDIT 2:
it's not the only song either. There's redone versions of Akira Ikufube's iconic songs as well. And yes, the OST apparently has the super weird naming conventions from the Evangelion soundtracks if you were curious.
