On TV Tropes, it's very common for editors to misuse appearance tropes, as well as tropes whose names make them sound like they could be appearance tropes.
Meaningful Appearance tropes are often misused in ways that overlook the "Meaningful" aspect, resulting in Zero Context Examples and misuse in the form of examples that have no meaning even if the tropes themselves are not People Sit on Chairs.
The Appearance Tropes Cleanup sandbox covers tropes with potential issues. Tropes that simply require cleanup will go through this thread, while tropes that require more significant action will have to go through the Trope Repair Shop.
April 2, 2023 update: This thread is no longer for making changes to tropes, and was brought back from the Projects Morgue solely for cleanup. Making changes to tropes is still a job for the Trope Repair Shop.

Fan-speak doesn't have to be completely de-wicked. Only examples using it as a trope need to be removed; potholes are fine.
Keet cleanupI have de-wicked Zettai Ryouiki from The Roaring '20s page, and merged the example under Shes Got Legs as Warjay recommended.
I do think Zettai Ryouiki should be a fanspeak term. I can't seem to remember it without mistyping it and/or using the Short Skirt and Knee Socks redirect. There also has to be a way to make the redirect name "Short Skirt and Knee Socks" tropeworthy, say, a fanservice trope?

ᜇᜎᜈ᜔ᜇᜈ᜔|I DO COMMISSIONS|ᜇᜎᜈ᜔ᜇᜈ᜔This is already a fanservice trope. The name won't change what trope it is.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessIt's been three days since, and there are 30 people who said "yes" to turn the Zettai (not gonna bother to type the other one) trope into a fanspeak term.
ᜇᜎᜈ᜔ᜇᜈ᜔|I DO COMMISSIONS|ᜇᜎᜈ᜔ᜇᜈ᜔So should we close the crowner and get to work?
One of these days, all of you will accept me as your supreme overlord.I can't believe I'm late to the party, though I would've vote with the majority anyways. Before this discussion ends I want to make my point known. ZR, by itself, is not a trope as it's just a clothing combination. However, there are past discussions whether there is meaning behind the ZR a character wears. I think a combination of ZR and a common trait present can be tropeworthy.
Nobody is disputing it being a trope, we're disputing the value of examples.

I left the wicks that just used it as a term or a pothole alone and just got rid of the examples. That's how we are supposed to do it, right?

Macron's notesFinally! Some progress has been made on this. I'm glad we broke the stagnation curse on this thing.
This trope has a problem with ghost wicks.
I'm mainly a fan of underrated media.Which ones?
And usually they're taken to the Locked Edits thread to be made and immediately cut...
Disambig Needed: Help with those issues! tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=13324299140A37493800&page=24#comment-576A-K of Characters is done and Visual Novel/ is done

Macron's notesAll the Anime section for example. Those are also ghost wicks, at least on my browser.

I'm mainly a fan of underrated media.Hm, well there aren't any ghost wicks in the anime section. I went through it a few days ago. Whats left over is just wicks to ZR that are just using it as a term or a pothole. We are only getting of direct examples.
Macron's notesOk, now I get it.
I'm mainly a fan of underrated media.Speaking of fan service tropes, one I think we should look at- after we finish with Zettai- is Absolute Cleavage.
It has gone on the Square Peg, Round Trope page, so it is indeed a problem (though it might have gotten better). The trope is supposed to mean “stomach-baring cleavage”, but is often misused for any noticeable cleavage. Looking at it now, the on-page examples mostly follow the actual definition, but the actual wicks tend to be ZCEs and often don’t follow the definition. Have not done an official wick check, though, since that takes time, so maybe someone could help.
As for the trope, I think the problem is the name. Since the trope is basically “stomach-baring cleavage”, I think it should be renamed Stomach Baring Cleavage. The ZCEs are another story- there might be a way to provide context without sounding perverted, but I dunno.
One of these days, all of you will accept me as your supreme overlord.I kinda want to go backto doing Hair Tropes wouldn't mind tackling that.
Absolute Cleavage might have issues but I think finding a lot of misuse is more indicative that it needs a rename then ZC Es which fanservice/personal appearance fall prey even when a lot of tropes are ZCE magnets despite the name and concept being sound. Not sure if people are leaving ZC Es because of the name.
I think all the context needed is just describing the cut. There are several examples on the page that do that without being getting skeevy I think
Macron's notesI remember Lennon Specs coming up before as a struggling trope with many ZCEs. The only part of the description that describes a narrative purpose is "They are more commonly worn by beatniks, hippies and - since they are uncommon and noticeable - unconventional but notable characters."
Skunk Stripe may also need action; when I added Skunk Stripe to the Master Codebreaker's folder on Star Wars – Criminals, all I could write is "He has a gray streak in his dark hair."

Keet cleanupYeah Skunk Stripe was brought before and it definitely has issues. Wouldn’t mind doing that next and there isn’t much to Lennon Specs.
Fingerless Gloves were also brought up for being nothing but ZC Es and none of the examples cite the traits listed in the description

Macron's notesAbout AC, as I said on the post, the examples on-page are mostly written fine and do fit the trope- it is the examples/wicks on other pages that fall afoul of misuse.

That could possibly work, with the Japanese name and "Absolute Territory" (what said Japanese name translate to IIRC) working as redirects.
the problem is that if this is gonna be a fanspeak page than it might make sense to for the name actually be the term used.
