Prematurely launched pages and pages that weren't fully fleshed out at the point of launching, are a big problem. Since these usually share several problems at once, this thread is aimed at re-running them through the TLP for fixing - the usual fix - or cutting them if they are too bad.
Problems this thread deals with include bad names, not enough/bad examples, unclear description, etc.
For the interested, here's a list of recently created pages. Launches
Note: Please do not request a mod to unlaunch drafts that don't have any issues besides lacking a launch notice/24hr launch notice. While 24hr launch notices are mandatory, there are a few exceptions to the rule. If you see a draft's sponsor launch a TLP without an announcement, it's best to remind them of our TLP Guidelines first. If they continue to repeatedly launch drafts without a launch notice, you can report them on Ask The Tropers or the TLP Community Issues thread.

Today's worklist - aside from the work examples question with Anne Boleyn and Jane Seymour as well as my previous post:
- Archive Of Despair: Stub work page; creator messaged.
- City Hunters: That needs some crosswicking.
- Evil Narrator Protagonist All Along: I think we need to discuss a better mechanism to deal with unlaunches. Mostly, we need to pull the cut and unlaunch trigger a bit more frequently.
City: I was waiting for approval.
Link to TRS threads in project mode here.Meaningful Nickname is almost redundant. Not counting nicknames that are simply a diminutive version of the regular name, nicknames tend to be always given because they in some way describe a person.
Cut it and point the creator to YKTTW and the various guides on making tropes.

I support cutting Wushu and Meaningful Nickname. Today's worklist:
- Hart's Hope: Stub work page; creator messaged.
- Laughably Easy Achievement: Stub trope with only 4 examples and no YKTTW.
Laughably Easy Achievement: cut; it's just Chairs. And Too Common To Trope. And subjective. And poorly made.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.So do we all agree on cutting the trope lists off of Anne Boleyn and Jane Seymour? Even so, the absence of work pages listed there is a problem.
- Extremes: That looks like a trope to me, and it's a stub.
- Meaningful Nickname: Needs some more agreement.
- Pure Souls Roleplay: Stub work page; creator messaged.
- Cut Meaningful Nickname. There is too much overlap with Meaningful Name if the character goes solely under their nickname. Also Inseries Nickname has it covered. If the troper who laucnhed it thinks there is a difference, they should take it to YKTTW.
- Extremes: I suppose it's tropeable, but it needs a trip to YKTTW to collect examples. Perhaps a rename would be a good idea, too — I'm not aware of such creatures by this name. I would lean towards cutting it and relauching later if it gets through YKTTW.

I was saying that the two only need a folder on UsefulNotes.Henry VIII, instead of individual pages. Perhaps a redirect from the current pages to the Henry VIII page.
Link to TRS threads in project mode here.Today's review will be delayed, as I am preoccupied with a snail-slow software package for a uni work.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanOK; today's review is up. Beforehand, I'll note that someone ought to cutlist Meaningful Nickname. Also, we still need consensus on Henry VIII's wifes.
Worklist:
- Babbitt: Stub work page; creator messaged.
- Bleach New Horizons: Stub work page; creator messaged.
- The Girl From Hell City: Stub work page; creator messaged.
- Evil Narrator Protagonist All Along: Did someone message its launcher?
- Working Sinnoh With Skill: Stub work page; creator messaged.
Split and Reunion — I ran across this stub trope with not that great description, only four examples and four wicks (not those that would be cross-wicked from the page however). It was launched in December 2010 without ykttw. I sense a trope, but it might be covered by other existing articles. Could we deal with it here or is it a matter for TRS?
I've put Meaningful Nickname on the cutlist.

Today's worklist:
- Condemned by History: Lack of crosswicking aside, I question whether we can still create such a page given No New Complaining Pages.
- Fastbacks: Trope example lacking work page; creator messaged.
- Killer Nerd: Stub work page; creator messaged.
- Laughably Easy Achievement: Needs some more commentary.
- Movie Dorkness: Examplepoor work page; creator messaged.
My problem with Condemned by History is that history may depend on who's writing it. It may need to be restricted to In-Universe examples, even if it passes the No Complaining test. (Which is questionable.)
Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving. -Terry PratchettToday's worklist; we also some more input on Anne Boleyn and Jane Seymour, since some favour having them as separate pages and others on Henry VIII's page:
- A Day With Bowser Jr: Stubby article; creator messaged.
- Extreme: Needs some more input. I am OK with asking the creator to run it through YKTTW and cutlisting the page.
Still going to need commentary on the previous pages. Today's worklist, by the way:
- Biter Comics: Stub work page; creator messaged.
- Planet of Hats: Stubby work page; creator messaged.
Today's worklist is up, and it needs some more commentary:
- Condemned by History: Anyone else?
- Extremes: Needs some more input still.
- Laughably Easy Achievement: I do have one reply, which isn't much, in support of cutting.
- Split and Reunion: I am inclined to disregard duplication issues until we find an article it's a duplicate to
Also, on the Henry VIII's wives pages, I'll go and cut the trope lists and namespace them if nobody else comments.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI see no good use for Condemned by History.
Extremes should be cut. Bad name. Bad description. Only one example.

Can someone help me out with Evil Narrator Protagonist All Along?
I don't think it was ready to launch, (it looks like it had all of one hat), and it really seems like The Same But More Specific of Tomato Surprise
Not to mention it's literally already being misused. The name and description say Narrator & Protagonist but half of the examples are just the narrator, who isn't the protagonist
Saveable?
...but what if they get mad at me? :(

If you ask politely, the prolly won't. And if they become rude, report them on Ask The Tropers.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanIf you look through the Edit Banned/Suspended thread, you'll see one order of business is to prevent damage to the wiki. Bad work and trope pages don't do the wiki any good.
Another order of business is making sure tropers mind their manners with each other. If the creator gets nasty, they've violated the #1 rule of "Don't be a dick", and should be reported.
Just remember to polite and non-confrontational, and you'll be fine.

Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving. -Terry PratchettHenry the VIII's wives: Discussion began at post 1606
- Coral has not edited since those edits, starting in Main.Henry VIII (a subject for a different project) by adding many character-specific tropes to the Real Life person.
- My vote was to move both pages to folders on UsefulNotes.Henry VIII, removing the tropes associated with them.
- Candi agreed with my opinion
- Septimus Heap said to move to their respective Useful Notes pages
- Catbert agreed with Sept
The Wushu page looks like it's supposed to be a useful notes page and not a trope. It's just two sentences talking about a specific martial art.
