This thread is for general discussion of page quotes, whether to change, move or remove them.
Unused quotes should be put on a Quotes Wiki page (just replace the namespace in the URL of the wiki page you are making a quotes page for with Quotes/) or, if they don't have an article, on Quotes Looking for an Article.
Image captions are discussed elsewhere and have their own thread in the Image Pickin' forum.

Agreesies on the first point.
What’s the deal with requiring a trope example? Do you doubt that actually happened on the show and need evidence or something?

Indeed, we have This Image Is Not an Example, so why should quotes need to fit? All that matters is that they seem to fit when taken out of context.
SoundCloudHi, can I change the quote from Spell Levels with this one? I think it's a bit clearer (plus, apparently in the 90s it kinda went memetic in Japan)
Vearn: A Kafrizz spell? That was no Kafrizz spell. It was Frizz.
Popp: Frizz?!
[...]
Vearn: [Creates a fiery phoenix] This is my Kafrizz.
The last line could be cut, maybe

There isn't an impossible dream, there are only people who give upWell, considering the current one is so bad, might as well.
SoundCloudThat quote really confuses me, but the trope description is clear enough, so it's not preventing me from understanding the trope that way.
But, the previous one was awful, so no argument there.

If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading. It seems I got the quote I suggested for Epic Race wrong. Here's the correct dialogue:
- Everybody's gonna get a card like this. When you leave, you're gonna punch out here at this time clock. Three thousand miles roughly away from here is another time clock just like that at the Portofino Inn. The difference between the two times is your time across the country. The record stands at thirty-two hours and fifty-one minutes. Believe it or not, those guys did break the fifty-five mile an hour speed limit.—Race organizer, The Cannonball Run
What do you think?
No, wait, if the quote is confusing is better to remove it then (Ok, the description is clear, and it must be anyway, but the quote must clearly describe the trope or make a nice example)
There isn't an impossible dream, there are only people who give upWell, I'm conscious of the fact that I was the only person who was confused by the Pokemon quote recently, so I wouldn't suggest pulling it just because it confuses me. If it works for most people, keep it.
If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading. For what its worth, I am also confused by the Dragon Quest quote.
UsefulNotes.Shovelware is complainy at the expense of being demonstrative at all. I can find quotes from Scott The Woz (the Shovelware Variety Hour video) that are negative but at least more relevant:
I like the last one the best.
back lolI second the last one.
If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading. How about moving Theme Naming's quote to Rhyme Theme Naming because it's much more demonstrative of the subtrope?
Disambig Needed: Help with those issues! tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=13324299140A37493800&page=24#comment-576Hausu's quote is a snarky one from Cracked about how weird the film is. Permission to replace it with this quote from the movie itself?
I don't know if it's come up before, but Gone Horribly Right and GoneHorriblyRight.Anime And Manga have the same quote, albeit formatted slightly different.
Maybe replace the one on the main page?
(Annoyed grunt)Your replacement looks good enough for us.
Trouble Cube continues to be a general-purpose forum for those who desire such a thing. So how much approval do I need to change move the Theme Naming quote?
Disambig Needed: Help with those issues! tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=13324299140A37493800&page=24#comment-576I say go for it.
(Annoyed grunt)Does the Vampire Fiction quote seem kinda complainy to you.
It also seems an extreme simplification of an entire genre...
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Agreed. Also sounds more suited to Supernatural Romance.
Disambig Needed: Help with those issues! tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=13324299140A37493800&page=24#comment-576Um, my query about a quote for Epic Race seems to getting ignored.
Looks good to me.
Check out my forum game: Rate the above YMMV.The quote on Wild Hair is about someone with... sensible hair. Not in an Averted Trope kind of way, either, just commenting on it. (I suppose the implied joke is that the speaker has famously messy hair, but that only just occurred to me now and relies on the reader already knowing that)
I don't think the quote on Composite Character fits the trope (which is about adaptations); it might fit better on Significant Double Casting, although it's not explicit about the fact that it's the same voice actor. For context, it's from a dream sequence where two different characters are combined into one dream-archetype who's voiced by the protagonist's VA.
Is there a rule that the quote has to be in the trope examples? Because I think it illustrates the idea fine.
Out of the replacement suggestions I really only like the Ultimates one. But I feel alien language might push it into some other trope.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.
