Not likely...not even Diddy Kong.
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie....What? Diddy Kong's been in Mario Kart games before (Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, Mario Kart Arcade GP, Mario Kart Arcade GP2, and Mario Kart Wii). Hell, he's been in plenty of Mario Spin-Off titles (Mario Golf: Toudstool Tour, Mario Power Tennis, Yakuman DS, Mario Superstar Baseball, Mario Hoops 3-on-3, Mario Strikers Charged, Mario Party DS, Mario Super Sluggers, Mario Sports Mix, Fortune Street, Mario Party 9, Mario Tennis Open, Mario Golf: World Tour, Mario Party 10, Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, Mario Party: Star Rush, Mario Sports Superstars, Mario Party: The Top 100, Mario Tennis Aces, and Super Mario Party).
The storm has now resided, the wolf now rests.I know this is a bit random, but has anyone else noticed that the theme for the Arcade game's Walugi Cup sounds a lot like this song from The Prodigy?
Wait, I meant 100cc in Super Mario Kart is hard.
The NPC riders always use annoying items, anything under 4th place is not allowed, and you only have a select amount of lives before. I find that DK Jr and Peach are the easiest characters. Bowser is good but Mario always seems to go invincible at inconvenient points when you play as him.

The roster in the launch is about half of what we had in the beta, but I assume they're going to rotate who's available in the gacha.
So far, I like that they made the point requirements for stars less stringent, they're actually making their own courses (and variants thereof, particularly the T variants), and they completely ditched needing energy to race in favor of just restricting how many races per day give you points towards leveling your drivers/karts/gliders.
That said, this game seems even more reliant on a good gacha pull for stars than even the beta. I was about 5 cups in when I hit the awful "led a 150cc race wire-to-wire, but didn't get five stars because I lacked the right driver" issue that plagued me late in the beta.
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster.I would say it influences more the kart and glider than the driver, as I managed to get all five stars in all courses with good combos and points by attacking, drifting and other bonus.
But not gonna disagree that having the right rider to get a frenzy helps a lot.
Oh, for some of the later requirements (particularly in the final cup), you need to basically have the top-tier stuff for that race, plus nail all of the bonuses for combos, plus snag a Frenzy or two, plus finish first to have a hope of getting all the stars. I mean, for early to mid cups, you can get by on either having a perfect race or winning the gacha, but you absolutely need all the stars to align if you want all the stars in the last cup.
You can fudge a little bit with kart and glider if you've leveled up the mid-tier kart and/or glider (particularly if you've got a high-end of either - I did eventually luck into getting a Golden Glider to level 2, and the combo time extension is amazing even if it isn't the high-tier glider for the race), but there's absolutely no substitution for having a driver with three item slots.
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster.Oh indeed, the last two cups are merciless about the point requirements. I've only managed to get 4 stars in each race.
And for the weekly ranking I've been lucky to manage to get and stay in first place for 4 days, but I could secure if I had Peach for the third race and manage more than 6000 points.
Due to poor luck with the gacha, I only have four stars in one and three in the other two.
While I've got the gacha luck on my side to get what I theoretically need to win the second weekly competition, I haven't pulled off the race of a lifetime needed on two of the three courses (I only have about 7k points on Toad Raceway, and 8k points on Yoshi Raceway R - if I could get some Frenzies, maybe I'd overtake my personal first place, who currently has over 29k points).
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster.I in the Toad raceway managed over 9000 with Toad, and in the Shy Guy Bazaar managed over 10000 with Shy Guy. I recently managed to get Metal Mario, but havent yet surpassed that record with him.
I found that the most helpfull frenzy is the coin one, you can rack up way to many points with it, more if you already coming with a decent combo.
I have a total of 25800 points, so again, I'm lucky I didnt get to compete with people able to get to the 29000 points. But I can totally see myself getting that many points if I had Peach for the Yoshi raceway.
EDIT: Well, not only did I speak too soon, but talk about luck
I just beat my record in the Shy Guy Bazaar by 800 points, and when I go and check the rankings, second place had beated my old record while I was racing. So still first .
Man I can't take it easy in this ranking.

It's cool that Pauline is in Mario Kart Tour. I hope she'll stick around for Mario Kart 9. Ditto Peachette.
Are there any characters you'd like to see join the roster? I'd love to see Nabbit and Plessie, myself. Oh, and bring back DK Jr.

Is that a Wocket in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?King K. Rool, Ashley from WarioWare, Professor E. Gadd, Wart, Baby Donkey Kong, and the Dr. Mario Viruses are all of the big ones coming to my head at the moment.
I'd also love to see Birdo come back.

Thanks to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, I've been wondering if King K. Rool could be more eligible for Mario Spin-Off games like Mario Kart now?
