A little torn between who to use.

Have both.

     Colton
  • Character: Colton
  • Mon: Helmsman the Samurott
  • Class Title: Illusionist (Dark)
  • Combat Skills:
    • Get Bopped! (Normal)- Colton strikes an enemy with a punch to a sensitive area. Higher chance to crit.
    • Ka-Boom! (Dark)- Hits all enemies with a blast of darkness.
    • Where'd Ya Go? (Status) - An ally of choice - or Colton - is hidden with an illusion. Enemy abilities will miss.
    • I Wanna Try! - Colton replicates an ally's last move. Its target can be different.
  • Passive Skills:
    • Versatile I Know You! - Smart enough to be able to adapt to any enemy on the fly, Colton gets more evasive every third turn of an encounter.
    • Shaded Gettin' Scary! - Able to weaponize any shadow, Colton becomes stronger the darker an area is.
  • Camping Skills:
    • Signal Jam Can't See Us! - Colton blocks out the light from the campfire via an illusion around the site, keeping enemies from ambushing a site they can't find.
    • Radiant Warmth So Comfy! - Colton keeps the party comfortable as they sleep with additional padding under them, healing them more than normal.
    • Training Dummy Shall We Spar? - A harmless illusion of an enemy is summoned to get wailed away on, lowering stress.
  • Notable Trinkets:
    • Sliding Scale Choker - A transformative item Colton is all too eager to use.
Jacket - A gray jacket sacred to Colton. If it's damaged in battle he loses a little defense but gains attack.
  • Headphones - They play music. After every fight someone can listen to a song to get a little de-stressed.
  • Seamitar - Helmsman's lesser-used Seamitar - as a focus for Obscura it makes his Dark attacks stronger.

     Ammy
  • Character: Amaterasu “Ammy” Hikari-Rever
  • Mon: Sylveon
  • Class Title: Flame Therapist (Fire/Psychic)
  • Combat Skills:
    • Piercing Gaze (Psychic) - Ammy locks eyes with a target, dealing damage with a psychic force.
    • Ignition (Fire) - Ammy burns an enemy, potentially leaving them with a burn wound.
    • Dance of Arrows (Fire) - Ammy quickly fires off three arrows before vaulting to the back of the line.
    • Hypnotic Flicker (Status) - Ammy enraptures a target with a wisp of flame, possibly putting them to sleep, if not stunning them.
  • Passive Skills:
    • Hasty - Ammy, ever-excited to fight, moves first on the first turn only.
    • Scouting - Ammy's experience as Lamb allows her to tell if enemies await in the next room, but not much else.
  • Camping Skills:
    • Hypnotherapy - Ammy lulls the party to sleep, reducing stress.
    • Platonic Cuddles - The lowest-health ally is supported by Ammy with hugs and whatnot, restoring a little health and reducing both their stress, Ammy's ally's more than her own.
    • Immortal Gaze - Ammy keeps watch over the campground, warding away ambushes and reducing her own stress.
  • Notable Trinkets:
    • Sliding Scale Choker - A transformative accessory.
    • Charcoal - A high-quality briquette despite its age. Makes whoever hold it's fire stronger.
    • Jacket - An old jacket that serves its purpose. Reduces ice-type and physical damage by a little bit, and can also hold some small trinkets found along the way in its pockets.

  • Character: Kaiiseii Sapphire
  • Mon: Tempest the Empoleon
  • Class Title: Rabid Ravager (Grass/Steel)
  • Combat Skills:
    • Whip It Good (Steel) - Kaiiseii attacks a foe with his chain whip.
    • Shoot Your Shot (Grass) - Kaiiseii makes a ranged attack using a small wrist-mounted crossbow.
    • Bare Your Fangs(Steel) - Kaiiseii grapples an enemy and viciously bites them with his sharp teeth. This is not sanitary.
    • Perk Your Ears (Status, Grass) - Kaiiseii uses his good hearing to supplement his subpar eyesight, increasing his accuracy and critical hit chance.
  • Passive Skills:
    • Regenerate - Kaiiseii has reserves of energy from performing photosynthesis, which allows him to quickly heal minor wounds.
    • Bloodlust - Kaiiseii isn't a violent person, but sometimes he gives in to himself. Increases the strength of his attacks, but limits him to fighting in the front of the party with close range attacks.
  • Camping Skills:
    • Natural Talent - Kaiiseii busies himself making some kind of art, reducing his own stress.
    • Comedic Relief - Kaiiseii relays jokes and funny stories to reduce everyone's stress.
    • Hydro Homies - With Tempest's help, Kaiiseii makes water rations for the party. Is reguriatated water gross? A little. Will it keep you alive? Yes.
  • Notable Trinkets:
    • Cloth Eyepatch: What Kaiiseii hides his wound with. A memory of guilt and mistakes.
    • Mega Dynamax Z-Power Ring: A battered, scratched focus for various limit breakers. One of the few artifacts from a ruined world.

Darkest Dungeon Dude

  • Character: Kamon
  • Mon: Rockstar (Mawile)
  • Class Title: Entertainer (Water/Fairy)
    • Combat Skills
      • Super Soak (Water): The Queensman Pistol, a custom double-barrelled pistol that was his signature weapon in a spy movie, is loaded with weak water bullets that explode in a watery mess.
      • Costume Drama (Fairy): Kamon changes into a weird acting constume to stun opponents and increase his allies' dodge chance by Marking himself.
      • Curse of the Hanged King (Fairy): Speaking lines from the Hanged King's Tragedy will cause one enemy to briefly go berserk on its allies, bypassing Guard.
      • Mellifluous Nocturne (Water): Kamon plays a song on his guitar that increases the speed, accuracy, and damage output of his allies while lowering the opponent's dodging ability and removing their stealth.
    • Passive Skills
      • The Method: Kamon draws on his experiences and emotions to relate to his characters and give himself a constant crit buff.
      • Victim of Wrath: Due to a past run-in with a certain serial killer, Unholy enemies do little damage to him but cause increased stress and occasionally Paranoia.
    • Camping Skills
      • Sparkling Bravura: Kamon can give his allies one turn of Aegis in their next fight plus a minor stress decrease by singing, playing an instrument, or doing some truly awful improvisational comedy with Rockstar if everyone's desperate enough.
      • Therapy Mon: Rockstar is a trained psychiatric support Pokemon and can offer emotional support to Kamon alone, lowering stress and increasing stress resist.
      • Futakuchi-Otoko: Rockstar's deceptive appearance allows the party to attack first when hit by a surprise attack, but he eats up a lot of their food if this activates.
    • Notable Trinkets
      • Hand of Glory: A prop from the Henry Parker set. Glows brightly in the dark.

There is no disdain in nature, there is no humiliation.

     Darkest Dungeon Entry

  • Character: Upton Braun
  • Pokémon: Phineas the Rotom
  • Class Title: Chimerical Abomination (Normal, Electric)
  • Combat Skills
    • Shock and Awe (Electric): Upton can generate and fire electric currents from his hands as a form of attack.
    • Improvise, Adapt, Overcome (Normal): Upton can, in high stress situations, field anything as a strangely effective weapon for a short time.
    • Le Parkour (Normal): Upton is part bird. In the absence of the ability to fly he will attempt to attack from above.
    • Switch-out (Electric): Upton can switch between two modes, a mundane human form suited for defense and evasion, and the other suited to attack. Once a switch-out is triggered, Upton takes on a powerful monstrous form, the Adonis—a vaguely anthropomorphic birdlke entity that's hard to directly comprehend. This is not a sustainable instance and he will eventually switch-out again once his energy is depleted, which is usually about three turns. He is also liable to scare party members out of their wits in this form, for obvious reasons.
  • Passive Skills
    • Conceal, Don't Feel: Upton is ashamed of his nature as an unnatural chimera and over time has become very good at lying. Once his lie unravels, however, he becomes a tad more paranoid and defensive.
    • Glitching: The reality around Upton seems to bend slightly, which mean that he might be able to dodge some attacks completely at random... or fail to do so.
  • Camping Skills
    • A Bad Habit: Upton will, often subconsciously, eat someone else's lunch. He gains a considerable boost in attack and stamina from this, often at someone else's expense.
    • Living Battery: Upton, at the cost of his own energy, can power electrical devices and machinery.
    • Banter: Upton and Phineas both like to wisecrack as a coping mechanism. Sometimes this eases the tension of fighting for him or his allies.
  • Notable Trinkets
    • A strap-like device made from scraps of recovered Pokefutures paraphernalia. It is capable of suppressing glitching. However, it is still retains the clear branding of Pokefutures and Upton does not enjoy wearing it.
    • A drone with a projector for Phineas
    • A backpack filled with random implements, many of which are associated with field journalists.
    • A camera with flash

Upton's other pokémon

Most of Upton's mon's follow the theme naming derived from [Canaanite Mythology]. The majority of them were liberated FutureSeries prototypes and other abused pokémon from Pokefutures facilities in his home timeline.

One of Upton's force of habit back in his timeline involves hiding his pokémon until they are needed. This is due to the demands of his reality in a Pokefutures-dominated world.

Astarte

Species: Ditto
Gender: Mentally Female
Ability: Limber

Astarte developed a fondness for Upton after being rescued by him and Phineas from a facility where she was used as a test subject. She is often his other partner whenever stealth is involved. She alone tends to parse her chimerical trainer as a Pokémon rather than a human.

Tanit

Species: Sudowoodo
Gender: Female
Ability: Sturdy

A cyborg sudowoodo and an early test subject for the FutureSeries' more extensive implants. She escaped the facility she was developed in. Tanit was one of the earliest to join Upton's roster. She and her trainer share their miseries at feeling "different" because of the roboticization she experienced.

Dagon

Species: Vaporeon
Gender: Male
Ability: Hydration

A late prototype of the FutureSeries, the Eevee Dagon was kept in as part of a successful series of Pokémon cloned with the implants in place. He was kept in observation and forced to evolve. Dagon was freed and joined the rosters of one of his liberators. He has generally accepted his condition and is proud of his abilities. Is Upton's emotional support pokémon.

Baal

Species: Zoroark
Gender: Male
Ability: Illusion

A very early cyborg prototype (with fewer mechanical parts than usual), Baal is technically Phineas' starter. He managed to convince the doctor that he was of human (actually genius-level) intelligence, enough to put him under observation. This paved the way for Phineas' eventual change of heart. Baal possesses a different kind of intelligence to Phineas, being more cunning and strategic, with a flair for the arts. Sophisticated and well-read, he was the one who gave the idea of using Canaanite code names. He's a fan of the [Stargate] TV show.

Moloch

Species: Guzzlord
Gender: Agender, nonbinary
Ability: Beast Boost

Moloch followed Upton one day and wouldn't leave. He scares his nominal trainer and rarely is he ever let out outside of general care and attempts at bonding. Perhaps his most powerful pokémon.

Iron-Clad Strategy?

I had an idea for a strategy Ian and Piku-chan could use for the Turffield Gym Battle. It involves Piku-chan spinning around while using Iron Tail, gaining enough momentum that when Iron Tail is unleashed, the excess momentum allows for a second hit, not unlike the Mythical Melmetal's Signature Move "Double Iron Bash". I had discussed if this was allowed with Umbra, and he recommended that I run it past you guys and come up with a name that sets it apart from Double Iron Bash.

And that's why I'm here. I want your opinion on this strategy and if you have any suggestions for a name for it, I would love to hear them.

You wake up. You find yourself on a weird plain. Around you are massive cliff faces coming out of the ground like the claws of a massive beast. You can also see natural bridges and tunnels winding through the terrain, surmising that underfoot is probably a massive network of tunnels. Occasionally the grassy terrain is broken up by massive red crystals. Looking around you see some of your friends, colleagues and acquaintances. That's good. Familiar is good. In the distance you see a Luxray. Nothing your group can't handle. As it nears you see something off about it. Does that Luxray have tusks? Isn't that Luxray a little bigger than usual? You think it might be a good time to run.

Welcome to Ikoria. Please don't feed the wildlife.

Ikoria Media Plot or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Finally Make an MTG Arc

This is it. It's happening. We're doing an MTG media arc. A recent set has given Pent and I the perfect setting to do one. So what is Ikoria? Ikoria is a plane within the multiverse that features harsh and unique terrain, massive crystals and creatures that are just as harsh, unique and massive. Life on Ikoria is hard if you're a human. Most humans are forced to hold up in scattered settlements or in one of the few massive cities on the plane that seem to be constantly under siege from monster attacks. Humans are naturally afraid of the nightmarish dinosaur cat beasts that roar thunder, so they defend their homes with extreme prejudice.

However, like most worlds, this world isn't black and white. Amongst humans there exists individuals called Bonders. Bonders are people who develop a mystical link to one of the local fauna. This bond is called an eludha and is similar to the Vow seen in verse clusters closer to the OU. The main difference is that the eludha manifests in different ways and it doesn't have to be through ritual combat. Some eludhas happen spontaneously while others can take years to develop. Once a human realises they are a Bonder they have a tough choice; either abandon their bond in favour of safety or venture into the wilds (willing or unwilling) living free but under constant threat of a monster attack. It's a good thing they have a monster buddy to protect them.

Imagine how such a society would react to people who come from a place that is in almost every way their opposite.

The Monsters Themselves

Yes, they have been translated into their closest Pokemon equivalents, though there are some interesting caveats. It has been canonically stated that the crystals native to Ikoria cause the monsters to grow to great sizes and develop mutations. For our purposes the crystals give off the same energy as Power Spots, thus inducing a kind of Dynamaxing effect resulting in increased cases of giantism amongst species. As well these mutations can result in Pokemon having different or additional types and abilities they woulnd't normally have.

Can we catch them? Depends. The 'mons on this plane don't have a Vow. Forming Bonds with them is certainly a possibility. They are at the end of the day Pokemon so it is possible to store them in Pokeballs, but good luck finding a surplus of those on a plane whose level of technology is barely past the medieval ages.

B-but I don't know anything about the Magical Cards D:

It is ok. You do not need to know anything about MTG to join this plot. Actually it'll be better if you know as little as possible.

The plot will closely follow the Ikoria storyline and it'll take the format of a 'world tour' where we visit each of Ikoria's unique triomes, their human settlements, and some of the characters along the way as our P Cs try to address the every escalating conflict between the Humans and the Monsters.

Alright Boys, Where are We Droppin'?

Pent and I aren't sure when we'll be starting but we'd like to gauge interest first.

As for where, well our P Cs will be dropped onto the Savai triome not too far from the major city Drannith. They will likely have to hit the ground running.

How will they get to Ikoria? Through any number of canonical or non-canonical methods, but they certainly didn't intend to take a trip to Ikoria.

We don't have a limit on who can participate but we have a softcap of around 8 players (1 PC per player plus mons they have on hand) that we're willing to go over.

If you're interested feel free to state your interest and we'll take your name. Start date TBD.

OK, but what's in it for me?

You'll likely get to take home a unique regional form of a 'Mon in a crystal Pokeball.

Fun isn't something one considers when getting a job done

"But this, heheheheh... does bring a smile to my face."

Alright everyone, it's time for another Raid, only this raid is going to be far different from any of the previous aurabolt and superhero raids, as we're not playing the brave Bolts stopping the evil scheme of a Pokefutures scientist or undermining the efforts of a Hunter's Guild Poacher, instead we'll be playing the Hunters themselves.

The basics of this raid is that Pokefutures has in their possession a artifact that the Aurabolts need to get away from them, but it's in a location that would only hurt the Bolts no matter what, so they need someone sneaky, devious, and underhanded, cue Delta being hired.

The Raid itself is short enough, a single target in a unique location, no massive parts of multi day steps as some of my other raids go. All that's required for this is a Hunter of some sort, ready to follow Delta in.

Any takers?

Hey, so, in light of current events, there's something I want to address that... hasn't necessarily recently been an issue, but it's something that's been on my mind. Specifically pertaining to Diane, and the character choices I've made for her over the years.

At her base, she was a Staraptor from PMD who turned out to be a transformed human all along. When she ended up in the OU, she used both forms alternately, and was physically strong in human form to echo the strength of her nonhuman form. Later, she ended up a Shadow Pokemon in Cipher's (read: Paula's) hands.

And then a couple years later, I decided I wanted to start to diversify the characters I already had, and canonized her as mixed race, specifically Black on her father's side — without considering the unfortunate implications of appending that to a physically strong, frequently nonhuman character who spent a significant period of time in brainwashed servitude. It's certainly not a set of character traits I'd want to stick together now, and I've been trying to focus on other aspects of her character (particularly her prowess with mechanics and technology) to attempt to avoid those being her defining characteristics (as well as her role in the Orre Arc game being changed dramatically to be slightly less unsavory).

However, with that in mind, I have noticed that despite my best efforts, there does tend to be a lot of joking pertaining to exaggerating her physical fitness, as well as a "Diane does Weird Bird Things in human form" category, which really don't sit well. As such, I wanna ask to people to at least be a bit more mindful of those jokes. It's not a universal problem, but it's one I want to nip in the bud.

And of course, for those more qualified to give input, I'm willing to accept feedback of how I'm handling making up for those mistakes, so I can do better about them.

On my end...

ANOTHER Zapdos variant?

So, uh, this isn't gonna happen for a while but one character I'm introducing in the future to tie into the Rainbow Rocket plot is based on a fic character by an out-of-WAAPT friend. Said character is a Team Rocket infiltrator from a fic that's basically sixteen billion '00s trainerfic cliches in a trenchcoat, in a way that will mostly fit WAAPT fine. Except...

Most of their Pokemon team is pretty normal. But there's one I'm wondering how to handle.

To tl;dr it he's a Pikachu with Zapdos DNA.

I was thinking I'd handle him the same way we do Deltas and Ultra Beasts and the Type:Null line? He can't be used in "official" battles, just for plot, and wouldn't be much more powerful than a normal Pikachu. I dunno, I'm mostly counting on the fact that I've been here long enough y'all hopefully trust me not to derail the RP with this.

But yeah tell me what you think.

Halis's Bad Idea Corner

Umbra seemed fine with this idea, but I wanted to get more opinions before going through with it...

So, you know how we have all these fancy WAAPT-exclusive techniques/moves? I was thinking maybe Halis could have one (in their Pokeform, since their human form is completely incapable of something like this).

This one... I thought of the name Focus Blade for it since I feel like it gets the essence of what it is across easily, and it's made by taking the energy from a Focus Blast and applying it to their right arm to attack in close range. It's more like a physical attack than a special one, and it would, to start with, incur not only the usual energy drain of a Focus Blast, but would also dissipate after only one attack since it's fairly unstable, requiring concentration to both form and maintain, making it easy to interrupt but powerful if allowed to go through.

And yes, it's totally referencing something, because of course it would. d:

Anyway... let me know what you think of it. Is it good? Is it the worst idea I've had yet? I don't know, honestly.

One thing I'm contemplating is less an exclusive technique and more giving one of Will's Pokemon an attack they wouldn't normally have. Specifically teaching his Nuzleaf to use Grass Pledge, to go with his Monferno (and Nuzleaf's mate) using Fire Pledge.

When I do use an 'exclusive' move, I tend to try to accommodate the RP by highlighting which move the other person should treat it as, and regard anything else like flavor text.

And Now, a New Villain.

Name: Albert Aloysius Voynich

Age: 60

Gender: Male

Ethnicity: White Angelan (of [Polish] descent)

Organizational Affiliation: CEO of Pokefutures

Appearance: Younger-than-he looks eccentric looking lean fellow. Has oddly long, bushy hair. Wears [Lennon] specs sometimes. Wears suits. Uncanny resemblance to a famous song parodist who wrote Polkamon. Do not mention this in his face.

Location: Whereabouts unknown. Raised in Los Phiones, near Hollywood.

Backstory:

A founding member of Pokefutures, he toiled in the background as director of marketing while the rest of his colleagues among the board of directors amassed power for themselves. He was largely responsible for much of the marketing-friendly corporate messages for the company's public relations ads. Much of this turned out to be subtly veiled humanocentric propaganda.

Eventually, he was promoted to CEO on the eve of Pokefutures' collapse after the failed attempts to murder the "club of high school science geeks" who leaked out proprietary information. After turning on the rest of the board of directors, he mostly fell off the radar, only ever appearing publicly to endorse his seemingly innocuous startup ecosystem. In secret, he coordinates many of the remaining factions loyal to the company, who either recognize his authority or willing to pay him lip service for access to his resources.

In his few public appearances, Albert is a friendly, softspoken and almost amicable eccentric, whose public persona seems to elicit a trusting reaction outright. He loves polka and interacting with children, telling them encouragingly that there's nothing they can't do because they're human. People who talk to him might find his obsession with human high culture to be a tad obsessive, almost to the point of worship. But really, most of his colleagues see him as a somewhat delusional recluse who thinks too highly of his actual importance.

He really hates Weird Al and thinks him a monster far more evil than he.

Be forewarned. He is every bit the ruthless businessman you'd expect the leader of Pokefutures to be.

Albert's Roster

The Systems Administrator (Porygon)

Gender: None (described by Albert as an "it")

Ability: Download

The SysAdmin is responsible for the management of the systems of Pokefutures executive suite. Although nowhere near the scale of competence ascribed to FutureOS, the SysAdmin keeps their job because Albert thinks they are easier to control.

He also has a fleet of FutureSeries in his office's command and a few experimental mons using Code EV, whose codes are drawn from [Abrahamic] angelogy. He also has a Type: Null.
