YMMV / The Wedding Crashers

Go To

  • Awesome Moments:
    • The entire finale, in which Dean and Sam wreck the wedding, then start up a dance party that's actually fun between themselves, Leah, Emmett and Rosalie—then Rose and Leah stage a fight that turns into Girl on Girl Is Hot. When Claire runs over ανδ dances with Dean too, Quil loses it and starts up a real fight, hurting Dean and forcing Leah to lay his ass flat. This finally gets Renesmee mad and she orders Jacob to attack Leah, which is a Tear Jerker until he accidentally releases her from his pack, allowing her to fight back and knock him and Renesmee on their asses. The snowballing violence sees Dean kill Benjamin and Castiel kill Tia before Bella's attempt at a Rousing Speech — which happens to demean humans and God's creations as mere cattle for vampires — gets her thrown away like a ragdoll. When it's all said and done, Leah leaves the wedding with her boys, truly free and happy. That's how you crash a wedding.
    • Castiel gets two when he not only casually kills the Volturi in the epilogue — stopping their reign of terror once and for all — but also quickly and brutally takes out Quil when he goes insane and tries to come after Claire when she turns 18. Needless to say, Cas earned those beers and White Castles.
  • Catharsis Factor: A majority of the Twilight characters in this fic are portrayed as so unlikable that this ends up setting in during the climax, where Team Free Will and Leah go to town on them.
  • Crossover Ship: Cas and Leah, which ends up squicking the Winchesters out when they have sex.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse:
    • A bee that Castiel stares at during the wedding ceremony has become unexpectedly popular, even inspiring fanart.
    • Claire, who was a very minor character in Twilight, became this in the fic, because of her adorable friendship with Dean and her doing her best to stand up to the creepy imprint she is stuck with.
    • Charlie, who was based more off of his "Mustache Dad" movie counterpart, also counts.
  • Fridge Brilliance: Leah being treated horribly by her pack makes more sense when you consider that she describes herself as The Scapegoat. She was demoted to Omega; the lowest rank in the werewolf pack, whose role is meant to be the punching bag to maintain order in the pack. Also counts as Fridge Horror.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: In Supernatural canon, the Whore of Babylon, who is also a malicious liar, has a guise named Leah. Here, Leah is wrongfully accused of being a liar and a whore in front of Team Free Will.
  • Iron Woobie:
    • Leah. She is verbally abused by almost everyone around her, yet she manages to stay strong through most of it. When Jacob accidentally frees her from the pack, readers can cheer as she gets her happy ending.
    • Claire. Quil imprinted on her when she was two and has scared off most of her friends with his stalker behavior, yet she only seems to be frustrated rather than depressed. Girl's got some tough skin on her.
  • Funny Moments:
  • Squick: In-universe, Sam and Dean have this reaction to several of the Twilight cast's unsavory behaviors, including Jacob having imprinted on Renesmee from the moment she was born (not to mention that she's the daughter of his ex-girlfriend), Jacob marrying Renesmee while she looks 18 but is actually 10, and the ridiculously skimpy dresses worn by the teenage-looking vampire bridesmaids and the flower girl.
  • Take That, Scrappy!: The entire Twilight cast sans Leah, Charlie, Claire, Embry, Rosalie and Emmett. Most of the story essentially builds up just how horrible they are to anyone who isn't named Bella, Edward, Jacob or Renesmee; and the final two chapters proceeds to put them through a brutal, thoroughly-deserved — and in at least two cases, outright lethal — Humiliation Conga at the hands of the Winchester Bros., Castiel, and Leah.
    • Bella gets special notice here: She is a complete sociopath and openly states that she doesn't care if vampires kill humans because vampires are just better. Cue Castiel getting pissed and curb-stomping her with his telekinesis, telling her she's wrong, and then her father, Charlie, disowning her for what she said.
    • Renesmee is a spoiled brat in this fic, to the point where she doesn't care if Sam or Dean are being harassed by other vampires and forces Leah to return for her wedding. Once Leah is finally freed from the pack, one of the first things she does is slug the half-vampire in the face.
    • Jacob has become much worse since Breaking Dawn and any hints of a friendship between him and Leah are nowhere to be found. He shames her for things she hasn't done, insults her, and physically assault her in the climax. When he accidentally frees her from the pack, Leah no longer has to take his orders or insults lying down and wastes no time in punching his lights out.
  • The Woobie: By the end of the story, Charlie becomes this when he overhears his own daughter say that she's perfectly fine with vampires killing humans, and that her new species are above human morality and law. The look on his face is heartbreaking when he sees what kind of monster his daughter really is.
