YMMV / The Case Study of Vanitas

Go To

  • Adorkable:
    • Noè is a giant teddy bear of a man whose Constantly Curious personality, tendency to marvel at any new things he sees, and general nice, pleasant personality make him very endearing to watch.
    • Similar to Noé, Jeanne has a childlike curiosity for the things of the world that are new to her. She also instantly melts at any gesture of kindness towards her.
    • Interestingly, we find that none other than Vanitas is like this when we finally meet them.
  • Genius Bonus: "Vanitas" is a term that refers to a work of art associated with the transience of life; the trademark of such a work is to contrast symbols of wealth and prosperity with symbols of death. For a story about vampires and mortals, to name a character and its book after such a term is fitting.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: This is the second Astolfo to have pink hair, after the Fate Series one.
  • Ho Yay: Has its own page.
  • Most Wonderful Sound: For the English dub, Zeno Robinson's voice for Vanitas has been well received by many, especially the calm, soothing, seductive tone he uses whenever Vanitas is putting on a gentlemanly facade or his more sultry moments. The higher pitched, brattier voice he uses for Vanitas' cocky bravado and angrier moments are also a delight to listen to.
  • Stoic Woobie: Vanitas is a mix of this and Jerkass Woobie. His jerkass side does seem to wane though, especially when he's with Noe.
