• Audience-Alienating Ending: Some would-be viewers have decided not to watch the series because of how it ends — or rather how it doesn't.
• Broken Base: The infamous cliff-hanger ending. Some viewers absolutely hate it while others think it's a fitting end.
• Fan Nickname: YouTube commenters dubbed Wei Shu You "Vampire Guy". It started because someone said his sharp teeth resembled vampire fangs. Other people took that description and ran with it.
• Friendly Fandoms: With The Journey of Flower, another series starring Zhao Li Ying.
• Hilarious in Hindsight:
  • Jin Han plays Zhao Xi Feng, a blood-thirsty, manipulative villain who kills people close to the protagonist. A year earlier he played Chiyun Nan... a blood-thirsty, manipulative villain who kills people close to the protagonist.
  • Here Zhao Li Ying and Jin Han play enemies. A year later in Our Glamorous Time they play love interests.
  • In this series Li Qin's character is in unrequited love with Shawn Dou's character. Four years later in Tears in Heaven, Shawn Dou's character is in unrequited love with Li Qin's character.
  • Xing Zhao Lin (Yue Qi) and Hu Chun Yong (General Cheng) both appear in The Eternal Love, as Lian Cheng and Yu Hao respectively. Amusingly, General Cheng killed Yue Qi while Yu Hao is Lian Cheng's bodyguard.
  • Shawn Dou (Yan Xun) and Ruan Sheng Wen (He Xiao) both appear in The Legend of Xiao Chuo, as De Rang and Xiu Ge respectively.
• Ho Yay: A mostly one-sided example between Yan Xun and Yuwen Yue. Yan Xun constantly pesters Yuwen Yue in a way that's reminiscent of a child annoying their crush. Especially in episode six, where Yan Xun climbs into bed with Yuwen Yue and strokes his face with a flower.
• Like You Would Really Do It: Chu Qiao's apparent death in episode twenty-seven. Apart from how unlikely it is that the series would kill off its heroine, the number of episodes left confirms she's still alive.
• Moral Event Horizon: Zhao Xi Feng crosses it when he murders Yan Hong Xiao, an unarmed and heavily pregnant woman.
• Narm:
  • Like all Chinese dramas this one is dubbed. Unfortunately the dubbing blatantly doesn't match the movements of the actors' mouths; sometimes their voice continues after their mouth has stopped moving and vice versa.
  • Zha Ma somehow thinks Chu Qiao is a man until she sees her with her hair loose. That's implausible enough, but it's made even worse because Chu Qiao makes absolutely no effort to disguise herself as a man beyond wearing male clothes.
• Retroactive Recognition:
  • Deng Lun plays Xiao Ce. A year later he'd become famous for playing Xu Feng in Ashes of Love.
  • Xing Zhao Lin has a minor role as Yue Qi. Then he became famous for starring in The Eternal Love, which started airing shortly after Princess Agents; both series finished airing in August 2017.
• Special Effects Failure:
  • When the wolves attack the girls they're blatantly CGI. Even worse, the scene's in slow motion, which makes the dodgy special effects more obvious.
  • Yuwen Yue's parrot is embarrassingly bad CGI even by Cdrama standards. It looks like something out of an early 2000s video-game.
  • The snakes' movements are very un-snakelike.
• The Woobie:
  • Yan Xun. His entire family are murdered and he doesn't even find out until after they're dead, he's falsely accused of treason, and he's nearly killed too. Just to twist the knife further, he loses his only remaining relative when his mother kills herself.
  • Bai Sheng, Yan Xun's mother. Her husband and two of her children are murdered. She's forced to identify their heads while her only surviving son lies badly injured on the ground. Then, as if her life isn't tragic enough, she commits suicide in front of Yan Xun.
  • Yuan Chun. She learns her fiancé is rebelling right before the wedding. She begs Yan Xun to stop it, but he coldly tells her he never loved her and rides away. Shortly afterwards her brother tries to kill Yan Xun. In retaliation Yan Xun's men beat him up and rape Yuan Chun.
