YMMV / Mistful Crimson Morning

Go To

  • Awesome Music: Has its own page.
  • Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: Boyfriend randomly pulling out a guitar for a solo at the end of "Dumped". Even Bootleg Spongebob seems annoyed when he starts, giving him a Death Glare throughout the whole thing. Still sounds awesome, though.
  • Friendly Fandoms: With Vs Sonic.exe and Friday Night Funkin': Mario's Madness, being another creepypasta mod that takes clear inspiration from them and creating a sort of trifectanote . It helps that Red Mist Squidward is now canonically friends with Lord X (mainly due to his creator really liking the mod) and MX.
  • Funny Moments: It may be a mod about SpongeBob creepypastas, but it is still an FNF mod, and thus has some ridiculous humor.
    • Joe Mama Squidward, in general. If his poses referencing some well known memes isn't enough for you, the fact he goes through a Heroic BSoD when Mean BF tells him who Joe is might be.
    • Word of God tells us Squidward is friends with MX and Lord X, and by this, he thinks THEY'RE the only Mario and Sonic to exist. Squidward is also unaware of Raid: Shadow Legends.
      • Additionally, according to Mari0_Bot, MX apparently fucks with Red Mist Squidward’s version of SpongeBob.
      • And according to JoeDoughBoi, the reason Lord X is even aware of Red Mist Squidward is because he appeared in Squidward's room after he blew his own brains out and joked with him about it.
    • Word of God about Bootleg Spongebob is no slouch either. He's actually 7 years old, was actually trying to be edgy in "Dumped" but BF didn't take it seriously, and constantly begs his mom for Unhappy Meals.
    • All of the characters in the mod have canonical favorite songs from VS OURPLE GUY. It can be rather amusing to imagine serious characters like The Tortured One, MeatCanyon Spongebob, and Served Plankton casually listening to music from such a light-hearted mod.
    • "Served", a serious and dramatic song symbolizing Plankton's downward spiral into suicide, begins with the jarringly goofy "Steel Sting" sound effect, which could throw some for a loop.
      • On the topic of Served, the death lines are incredibly hilarious in comparison to how the rest of the song is (“F is for FUCK OFF!”, “Eugene! I have diarrhoea…”, “Me seeing whales is already scary enough, but when I hear you rap. It makes me shit myself.”).
    • Why isn't BF wearing a suit or an air helmet despite being underwater? He's too stupid to know he can't breathe underwater.
    • When "Bold or Brash" got leaked onto YouTube, Churgney Gurgney, the song's composer, requested not for the video to be taken down, but rather for it to be renamed to "Darnell Wet Fart". The uploader complied, and the video is still easily findable to this day under that name.
    • At the end of "Road Rage", we can hear what is assumed to be Patrick somehow getting a bailout or Spongebob ramming him off the track to win, whatever it is, it results in a crash, Spongebob winning, and the Steel Sting sound effect.
  • Nightmare Fuel:
    • It's to be expected of a mod all about Spongebob creepypastas, but especially of note is at the end of "Doomsday", where Red Mist Squidward suddenly shoots himself in the head. Not only are the sprites themselves rather gory, with his head blowing open and splattering his brains on the floor, but the animation comes so suddenly it can effectively work as a Jump Scare as well. The V1 update makes it worse, as once Squidward does the deed, his blood covers his bedsheet AND SPLATS ONTO THE SCREEN. Not helped when the background cuts back to regular right after the gunshot. And that scream he makes after the booing? The V1 update changed the sprite so that during that moment, he's pointing his shotgun RIGHT AT YOUfollowed by Boyfriend laughing and Girlfriend waving to the camera.
    • The sudden change of scenery in "Served" can also make someone get a quick spook, complete with Plankton screaming in horror after the bus runs him over. And judging by how BF shows up with him in the abyss, it's an unintentional murder-suicide.
    • The entire fact now instead of being victims, Faceless Spongebob and Patrick just tear off people's faces for the heck of it.
    • Even resident upcoming Joke Character MOMAZOS DIEGO is set to have some horror in his debut song. Just take a gander at that up pose.
    • This video showcases a planned part of "Dehydrated" before the mod's canning. It shows that Dehydrated Spongebob would CHASE BF around the Tree Dome, implying he was gonna try to kill the poor guy just to quench his thirst.
    • As expected, Horror Tales Patrick is actually extremely terrifying with his exaggerated poses and the fact he doesn't move when idle. Implying he is just waiting for the song to end and deciding what he wants to do with GF.
  • Squick:
    • Just as much as in his original video, MeatCanyon SpongeBob is positively disgusting to look at. His deformed body, his pulsating pores, and the oddly sexual undertones of his mid-song voice line make the whole thing a pretty uncomfortable experience.
Spongebob: Was that good for you?
    • The MeatCanyon version of Boyfriend is also rather disgusting to look at; in addition to having the same grotesque artstyle, his blue balls are visible, including a third one in his hat when he loses and his hand appears to be fused with his microphone, which also contains his unborn child.
  • Tear Jerker:
    • The main story mode of the mod follows Squidward's depression progressing from the initial sadness, then a bout of insanity before briefly reliving his traumatic experience and shooting himself in the head. Word of God also states that he'd been planning this suicide for a long time before the concert, meaning he went through even more that we don't even get to see!
    • MeatCanyon Spongebob, despite his grotesque appearance, is easily one of the mod's most tragic opponents. He lives a life of being forced to use his own body to make Krabby Patties and regularly be torn apart by his versions of Squidward and Mr. Krabs, all while keeping a smile on his face out of an obligation to "make people happy". The ending of "Satisfaction" itself also has an aura of sadness as the song slows to a crawl and a used-up Spongebob sings one last verse to satisfy Boyfriend.
