• Common Knowledge: People who hear about this game from character inclusions like the below-mentioned Hornet car assume the point of this game is to be a Massive Multiplayer Crossover fighter, like Super Smash Bros. before Smash. The game's crossover aspect is supposed to be smaller in scope, focusing only on Virtua Fighter and Fighting Vipers, and anyone else is a hidden unlockable from another game developed by the same Sega division, AM2. Hence, why the game features the entire casts of Virtua Fighter 2 and the original Fighting Vipers, and why its only Sonic characters are the ones from Sonic the Fighters.
• Dancing Bear: This game is perhaps best known for having a car as a fighter.
• Game-Breaker: Given how the game works by the way of Rule of Cool and Rule of Funny, the cast isn't particularly balanced, and some fighters manage to be more powerful than others.
  • Siba. A Moveset Clone of Bahn, he also wields a scimitar in battle that can break from overuse. The weapon's long reach, high damage, and unblockable nature make up for any drawbacks that'd arise from its loss, and Siba is far from defenseless without it. It's easy to see why he was removed from Virtua Fighter in favor of Akira, as he most likely would've been comically overpowered in a cast of hand-to-hand fighters.
  • URA Bahn, an upgraded version of the original Bahn that possesses more moves with no downsides.
  • Dural, who fights with a variety of moves taken from each Virtua Fighter character, making her incredibly versatile, and at the cost of practically nothing. Notably, unlike her other appearances, she is playable from the start.
• They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character: The only characters from Sonic the Fighters that are in this game are Bean and Bark. Admit it, it would have been nice to have someone like Sonic himself fight Akira.
• Unexpected Character: While a bunch of characters are from Virtua Fighter 2 and Fighting Vipers, the rest of the cast is just plain strange. Okay, maybe Janet Marshall isn't that big of a deal. But the "kid" versions of Akira Yuki and Sarah Bryant along with their regular selves? The main protagonist of Rent A Hero? The guy that was originally going to be in the first Virtua Fighter but got scrapped at the last second? Bean the Dynamite and Bark the Polar Bear? The freaking car from Daytona USA?!
