YMMV / Carry On Regardless

Go To

  • Harsher in Hindsight: Two of Lily's scenes have her getting roaringly drunk at a wine tasting, and telling Sam of her love of sweets, who warns her that they'll make her fat. In her later years, Joan Sims struggled with alcoholism after the deaths of Carry On co-star Hattie Jacques, her agent, and her mother; while also she was extremely sensitive about her weight issues, which began in the early '60s, only a short while after the release of the film.
  • Retroactive Recognition:
    • Mike Weston is played by Bill Owen, who would later be best known for playing Compo Simmonite in Last of the Summer Wine.
    • Mrs. Delling is played by Carole Shelley, who would later be best known for playing Gwendolyn Pigeon in The Odd Couple.
    • Mr. Panting is played by Ed Devereaux, who would later be best known for playing Matt Hammond in Skippy the Bush Kangaroo.
    • Matron is played by Joan Hickson, who would later be best known for playing Miss Marple in Miss Marple (1984).
    • Trevor Trelawney is played by Terence Alexander, who would later be best known for playing Charlie Hungerford in Bergerac.
    • The bird woman is played by Molly Weir, who would later be best known for playing Hazel the McWitch in Rentaghost.
    • The man at the Ideal Homes Exhibition who asks Montgomery about the "popsy cupboard" is played by Patrick Cargill, who would later be best known for playing Patrick Glover in Father, Dear Father.
    • A girl at the toy exhibition is played by Sally Geeson, who would later be best known for playing Sally Abbott in Bless This House.
  • Special Effect Failure:
    • When the wine waiter stumbles, but miraculously keeps his glasses steady on his tray, it is obvious that said glasses have been attached as they remain perfectly still as he tilts the tray at a near ninety-degree angle.
    • When Lily is supposedly in the raw during her bath at the Ideal Homes Exhibition, at one point a bathing top is visible under the Censor Suds.
