Monster Pets is the third and last animated short film based on Hotel Transylvania and was released during April 2021. The short focuses on Dracula's attempts to find a pet companion for Tinkles.

Tropes:

  • Animal Jingoism: When Toots is first presented, Tinkles roars at her and attempts to eat her. When it looks like he succeeded, Dracula reminds him of how they were looking for a playmate for him. Upon which, he spits Toots out and subverts this trope by becoming best friends with her.
  • Bring My Brown Pants: The first pet that Dracula presents to Tinkles is a normal dog named Cinnamon. Unfortunately, Due to how huge Tinkles is, Cinnamon becomes so scared that they wet the carpet before running away.
  • Canis Major: Tiny is a nine-foot-tall golden retriever.
  • Cats Are Magic: The cat Toots, who's black, has the powers of levitation/telekinesis and shifting to and from sand.
  • "Eureka!" Moment: When Tinkles disturbs Dracula when he is going to the bathroom, Dracula shouts "Don't you have anybody else to play with?" Upon saying this, Dracula figures out a solution to get Tinkles to stop bothering him.
  • Flesh Golem: As his name implies, Poochy Stein is made up of the body parts of many different dogs.
  • Hellhound: Given his red color, firebreathing, pointed ears, and arrowhead-tipped tail, the chihuahua Diablo is likely this.
  • Ironic Name: The golden retriever Tiny is actually about nine feet tall.
  • Meaningful Name: Spike is a dog covered in, well, spikes.
  • Our Gargoyles Rock: One of the pets Drac introduces Tinkles to is one of the hotel's stone gargoyles.
  • Playing with Fire: The chihuahua Diablo can breathe fire.
  • "Shaggy Dog" Story: The whole reason Dracula was looking for various other pets is so that Tinkles would have somebody to play with and give him some peace. Once Tinkles bonds with Toots, Dracula thinks he can finally work without distraction only for Tinkles and Toots to bring the ball to him once more.
  • Vampires Sleep in Coffins: The short opens with Dracula waking up in his coffin.
  • Verbal Backspace: When presenting Poochy Stein, Dracula assures Tinkles that he isn't all that wierd. Then Poochy Stein chases after his own tail which split off of him before splitting into pieces and forming. After that, Dracula then states, "Okay. He's wierd."
