Wai Wai World 2: SOS!! Parsley Jō (Wai Wai World 2: SOS!! Parsley Castle) is a 1991 game for the Famicom. A sequel to Wai Wai World, it's also a Massive Multiplayer Crossover of characters from Konami games released at the time.

A new protagonist, Rickle, takes the spotlight, with the ability to change into Goemon, Simon and Fuma, and newcomers Upa from Bio Miracle Bokutte Upa and Bill Rizer from Contra. The gameplay here is much more linear and lacks the Metroidvania aspects of the original game, but there are still a few branches and several Unexpected Gameplay Changes.

A new Big Bad named Warūmon began to terrorize Wai Wai World. Dr. Cinnamon was able to create Rickle based on a Konami Hero Transformation Circuit chip.Warūmon then kidnaps Princess Herb and holds her captive in Parsley Castle.

Examples found in Wai Wai World 2: SOS!! Parsley Jō:

  • Battleship Raid: One of the boss battles in the sequel is against a gigantic Core Ship, which has defenses that must destroyed before getting a chance to break into the core.
  • Co-Op Multiplayer: The second game allows the control of two Rickles- one red and the other blue.
  • Lighter and Softer: The second game is more lighthearted, where the sprites are even more Super-Deformed and the final boss... cries as you damage him. Other bosses are also Denser and Wackier (Ryukotsuki has a muscular humanoid body, Red Falcon rides a ship that shoots you, Dracula (if that's really him) refuses to come out of his coffin and attacks with a extendable punching glove...). The gameplay is also a more straightforward action platformer than Metroidvania.
  • Resurrect the Villain: Warūmon has brought back old Konami foes from the dead, who serve as the bosses.
  • RPG Episode: One level is titled "Final Twinbee Quest Gaiden!?" The joke is that it's a TwinBee-like shmup level, but set in a stereotypical Eastern RPG World Map and dungeon.
  • Title Drop: Parsley Castle is the base of Warūmon where the princess is held captive.
  • Unexpected Shmup Level: The sequel has a short one in the middle of the first world and then later stages in the style of TwinBee and Gradius.
