Go To

Touhou Library Survivors is a Touhou Project Fan Game heavily based on Vampire Survivors, with Patchouli Knowledge as the playable character, fending off hordes of fairies and leveling up her spells in a grid-based system.

Rumors about a magician within the Scarlet Devil Mansion is hiding a special spell book that can grant wishes spreads across Gensokyo, with the fairy population going after Patchouli Knowledge to get this so-called to defend herself from the hordes of fairies trying to her belongings.

The game can be found here on Steam

Tropes:

  • Difficulty Levels: Like in Touhou, there are four difficulties to choose from: Easy, Normal, Hard and Lunatic. Easy features no projectiles to dodge, while the latter difficulties include more projectiles for the special enemies and bosses.
  • Elemental Powers: Patchouli has seven different types of magic spells to choose from, whether via level up or for starting a run, to fight against the horde of enemies.
    • The Sunday abilites are the Sun Sign spells "Radiance" and "Solar Flare".
    • The Monday abilities are the Moon Sign spells "Shooting Comet" and "Fallen Star".
    • The Tuesday abilities are the Fire Sign spells "Flame Wheel" and "Wipe Moisture".
    • The Wednesday abilities are the Water Sign spells "Water Spray" and "Sticky Bubbles".
    • The Thursday abilities are the Wood Sign spells "Slyphy Horn" and "Spirit Tornado".
    • The Friday abilities are the Metal Sign spells "Force Lasher", "Ion Storm" and "Autumn Edge".
    • The Saturday abilities are the Earth Sign spells "Lazy Trilithon" and "Dew Spears".
  • Get Out!: In the ending, infuriated by Marisa's question of hiding books, Patchouli angrily demands for everybody to go home and not "borrow" any books on the way out.
  • MacGuffin: Everyone that's fighting Patchouli is after the wish-granting book heard of in rumors surrounding the mansion's library, and that's the setup for the game. Tellingly, such a book doesn't actually exist, making their attempt pointless.
  • Mana Meter: Patchouli's magic spells are limited by a stamina meter, which empties at the rate of each individual spell's stamina cost, with the bar emptying leaving Patchouli exhausted — preventing use of her spells until it fully recovers while inflicting her with a movement speed debuff.
  • Never Learned to Read: As the narration blatantly notes, despite eagerly going to the Scarlet Devil Mansion to find a book that allegedly grants wishes, few of the fairies even know how to read.
  • Play Every Day: Each day of the week corresponds to the seven spells Patchouli has, adding a bonus +10% damage to one of the spells depending on the respective day. Initially, the starting spells were limited to the corresponding day, but has since been patched.
  • Serial Escalation: At first it's just the fairies across Gensokyo that's after the wish-granting book, but then eventually the rest of the Scarlet Devil Mansion gets involved with the same goal further into a run, from the fairy maids, to Koakuma, Meiling and Sakuya. Even Remilia Scarlet herself gets involved as the True Final Boss in Lunatic mode.
  • "Shaggy Dog" Story: Everyone trying to get ahold of a wish-granting book not only lose to Patchouli in the ending, the magician calls them out for believing in the rumor that has no basis in reality.
