Trivia / Monster a-Go Go

Go To

  • Alan Smithee: Herschell Gordon Lewis is credited under the pseudonym of Sheldon Seymour for his writing and producing roles. He also takes credit as the film's production designer... under the name of Seymour Sheldon.
  • Creator Backlash: Bill Rebane saw what H.G. Lewis had done to finish the film (such as adding in the infamous ending) and was utterly appalled. On the DVD Commentary of the film, he repeatedly calls it the worst movie ever made.
  • Development Hell: The film was originally a flick from Bill Rebane of The Giant Spider Invasion fame, called The Terror at Halfday, but he ran out of money to shoot the movie just before the big climax. It sat in limbo until H.G. Lewis... well, "Saved" it, for lack of a better term.
  • Parody Retcon: H.G. Lewis claimed this movie was a parody instead of an Obvious Beta, as does the trailer. He's also claimed it to be a "satire" later on.
  • What Could Have Been: Bill Rebane tried to cast Ronald Reagan in the lead role, and Reagan expressed interest after reading an early draft of the screenplay. Unfortunately, the studio nixed Reagan's casting on the grounds that he was a "has-been."
