Award Category Fraud: in 2010, Kate Bell was shortlisted and nominated for the TV Week Logie Awards for Best New Female Talent, despite having previously appeared in two full seasons of Blue Water High, starting in 2005.
Channel Hop: In the UK, the soap moved from ITV to Channel 5 in 2001 (although 5's agreement that they would continue airing it for as long as it kept being made proved to be something of an albatross by the 2020s). Ironically, Channel 5 would air its competing soap Neighbours seven years later after it jumped ship from BBC One.
Life Imitates Art: Many former actors on the soap try their luck in Hollywood after leaving. Nick Smith in 2003 was one of the few characters to depart attempting to do so at the same time as his actor, Chris Egan.
Pippa and Flynn are the most notable cases, with their replacement actors both lasting longer than their originals.
When Bec Hewitt (formerly Cartwright) decided to leave the role of Hayley after playing her for seven years, she was replaced by Ella Scott Lynch for the character's final weeks on screen.
Roo Stewart was played by Justine Clarke from 1988-1989. Having declined several offers to return over the years, the producers eventually recast her with Georgie Parker in 2010.
Ailsa, Rebecca and Mitch also had new actors temporarily step into their roles when their regular actors suffered health problems.
