Trivia / Gen V

Go To

  • Actor-Shared Background: Indira Shetty's English accent and Indian first name indicate that she's an Englishwoman with at least some Indian ancestry just as actress Shelley Conn is.
  • Dawson Casting: All of the main cast are older than their characters, to varying degrees. For example, Marie is 18, and Jaz Sinclair was 28 during filming.
  • The Other Darrin: Translucent's son Maverick was portrayed by Charles Altow in a non-speaking role in season 2; here, he's voiced by Nicholas Hamilton, best known for playing Henry Bowers in It (2017).
  • Production Posse:
    • Like its parent series, Gen V is executive produced by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg through their Point Grey Pictures banner.
    • Clancy Brown had previously voice acted in The Boys sister series, Invincible as Damien Darkblood and General Kregg. Now he's Godolkin University's professor, Richard Brinkerhoff.
    • Actor Derek Wilson reunites with Rogen and Goldberg after appearing in the television series, Preacher, Future Man and voice acting in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, an animated film produced and co-written by the duo that was released a month before Gen V premiered.
  • Queer Character, Queer Actor: Dr. Edison Cardosa is married to another man. Marco Pigossi plays him, and he's in a relationship with director Marco Calvani.
  • Real Life Writes the Plot: In an interview, Eric Kripke explained that part of the reason for Tek Knight's Adaptational Superpower Change is that they couldn't afford the special effects needed to depict Powered Armor.
  • Referenced by...: A strip from Penny Arcade discusses Rufus's penis being exploded in episode 4 and what the VFX artists working on that shot must have felt like; see it here.
  • Separated-at-Birth Casting: Some people assumed that Derek Luh and London Thor (the male and female versions of Sex Shifter Jordan Li respectively) were brother and sister, they look so much alike. Ironically, they do not even have the same ethnic background in real life (both are of Asian descent, but Luh is of Chinese descent and Thor is of Korean descent).
  • Troubled Production: Chance Perdomo died in a motorcycle accident on March 29 or 30, 2024, putting the production of the second season on hold. The cast was due to begin table reads that day and filming would have started on April 8.
  • Underage Casting: Claudia Doumit is younger than her character, Victoria Neuman. At 30 years of age during filming, she is five years too young to be a vice presidential candidate in the US. Doumit is only two years older than Jaz Sinclair, who plays a college freshman.
  • What Could Have Been: The show was titled Generation V while in production.
  • Write What You Know: Jordan isn't technically a woman, but they are bisexual and have a feminine and masculine form. A huge part of Jordan's arc is worrying that girls, including Marie, won't like them in female form and will only be attracted to them as a guy. Michele Fazekas, the showrunner of Gen V, came out as a lesbian over the writing of Season 1.
