Caps Lock. It's that key above the Shift key with a-million-and-one uses, from showing anger to messing up case-sensitive passwords. Those used to the Shift key may have Incorrect Lowercase Letters because of it.

In media typically used as a form of Painting the Medium to represent shouting or Robo Speak. Can be used as a specific variation of Capital Letters Are Magic or Bold Inflation.

Frequently combined with swearing to make an Atomic F-Bomb. Often mistakenly used as cruise control for "cool."

Contrast all lowercase letters.

Literature
  • Death's speech in Discworld is always in smallcaps font. His apprentice and granddaughter Mort and Susan can talk to this when they want to be intimidating.
  • In Jumanji the board's instructions have rule D written in all caps.

Video Games

  • Tatsuo Kimura in ACE Academy always talks in all caps.
  • Professor Parpar in Annventure when turned into Lord Parpar talks in caps representing with Robo Speak.
  • Chippy: The Oracle, Neophyte, Kraken, Prospector, all Crossfire enemies, the Ball Pit server, and the Credits boss have speech bubbles with capital letters only.
  • Certain Deltarune characters, namely the Voice in the intro, talk in capitalized text.
  • Naoto Shirogane in Persona 4, despite being serious otherwise, capitalizes text messages sent to the protagonist.
  • Some characters in Undertale talk in capitalized text, especially the robot Metatton and always shouting Papyrus. Furthermore, the game's title is typically capitalized.

Webcomics

  • Stelsa Sezyat from Homestuck types in all caps with almost no punctuation.
  • The mechanical rabbit in Married to the Sea talks nonsense in all caps.
