Young Kengo Manaka lives on Mars. As he lives out his peaceful, day-to-day life, the monster Golba suddenly appears, throwing the town into chaos! When Kengo becomes one with an Ultra-Ancient light, his destiny is forcefully thrown into motion!

Tropes:

  • All Myths Are True: The Ultras were long-believed to be myths and fiction in this world, only to turn out to be real.
  • Battle in the Rain: The peak of the first episode's climatic battle has Trigger fighting Carmeara in the midst of heavy rain on Mars, with the wet, muddy terrain making the battle difficult for Trigger.
  • Breaking Old Trends: Unlike most of the previous New Generation shows' first episodes, this one has no ties to previous plot points of past series in any way or characters besides a brief mention of Ultraman Tiga.
  • Colonized Solar System: Mars has a human colony installed which is where most of the episode takes place.
  • Continuity Nod: Chairman Shizuma apparently knows about Tiga and its foes Golza and Melba, briefly referring to the hero when realizing that Ultras exist in this universe and mentioning the kaiju duo when he sees Golba.
  • Establishing Character Moment: Carmeara's first lines of dialogue are her angrily shouting at Trigger for defeating her, and her first action is to seek out his statue and launch an assault at it, while also sending Golba to destroy the human colony that found Trigger's statue.
  • Heroic Second Wind: When Trigger is on the receiving end of a No-Holds-Barred Beatdown from Carmeara, he suddenly had a vision of his past using his mystical weapon called the Circle Arms, at which point Trigger immediately summons the weapon from the excavation site to his hand. Cue Trigger turning the battle around.
  • Human Shield: Carmeara uses Golba as a meat shield from Trigger's Zepperion Beam, which obliterates the Kaiju.
  • Mythology Gag: This episode features a bunch of homages to Ultraman Tiga's first episode "The One Who Inherits the Light":
    • Trigger is found as a stone statue inside of an ancient pyramid not unlike Tiga, to boot his statue also comes under attack by past foes (Golza and Melba for Tiga, Carmeara for Trigger).
    • Golba, the series' first Monster of the Week is a fusion of Golza and Melba, who were Tiga's first Monsters of the Week themselves individually.
    • There are also two homages for Ultraman Dyna: both of these first episodes take place in a human colony in Mars and the Kaiju involved in it are explicit creations/minions of the Big Bad (Spheres for Dyna and Carmeara for Trigger).
  • No-Holds-Barred Beatdown: Carmeara delivers a brutal one to Trigger with Golba's help, up until Trigger gets his second wind.
  • Taken for Granite: Carmeara was turned into stone by Trigger in the past and breaks out of her imprisonment in this episode.
  • Wham Shot:
    • Multiple times in the episode a shadowy figure resembling Trigger can be seen whenever Yuzare or Carmeara talks to Kengo about Trigger.
    • At the end of the episode we're shown a frustrated Akito Hijiri holding a blank GUTS Hyper Key while looking at the news of Ultraman Trigger, showing us that he intended to become Trigger's host.
