Tropes

  • Crazy Jealous Guy: Akito throws Kengo into the ground after he gets close to Yuna while the two are bonding.
  • Defrosting Ice King: At the start of the episode Akito doesn't even bothers to hide his disdain for Kengo, by the end he's gotten friendlier with Kengo but it's implied that the resentment is still there
  • Disc-One Final Boss: Gymaira is destroyed early on in the episode and ends up being a prelude to the threat of Darrgon, who's the main threat for the rest of the episode.
  • Mythology Gag:
    • Akito is a resentful chosen wannabe who hates Kengo for inheriting Trigger's power instead of him just like Ultraman Tiga's Keigo Masaki who was a rich CEO that came to resent Daigo for inheriting Tiga's power and initially acted as an antagonist for it, though Akito comes around quicker than Masaki did for the time being.
    • Trigger's Power Type debuts fighting Darrgon, in Ultraman Tiga: The Final Odyssey it was revealed that Ultraman Tiga (Trigger's Neo Frontier counterpart) got his Power Type form by defeating Darramb (Darrgon's Neo Frontier counterpart).
    • Trigger and Darrgon fight underwater, which is also where Tiga fought Darramb in The Final Odyssey.
  • The Reveal:
    • Chairman Shizuma is aware that Kengo is Trigger, and urges him to keep his identity a secret from his teammates in GUTS Select. Akito is also aware of it, due to being told about it by Mr. Shizuma.
    • Akito Hijiri wanted to become Ultraman Trigger and hates that Kengo was the one chosen for that purpose instead.
    • Akito also invented the GUTS Sparklens by reverse engineering an ancient Sparklens in the Ultra ruins, as well as the Hyper Keys with the essences of Trigger's power.
    • Monsters first appeared six years ago, which prompted the foundation of GUTS Select to fight their threat.
  • Tongue Trauma: To free the GUTS Falcon from Gymaira's tongue appendages, Trigger slices them all off.
  • Villain: Exit, Stage Left: Satisfied with his duel with Trigger, Darrgon leaves after he tanks the Deracium Claw Impact, swearing to return to fight Trigger again.
  • We Will Meet Again: As he leaves the scene, Darrgon swears to return in order to fight Trigger again.
  • The Worf Effect: Trigger shows his power by obliterating the powerful Gymaira with a single point-blank Zepperion Beam, though it exhausts him to the point his Color Timer starts to blink. Then he gets overwhelmed by Darrgon's strength and de-transformed.
