Recap / The New Adventures Of Winnie The Pooh S 1 E 5 The Piglet Who Would Be King

Go To

This episode contains examples of the following tropes.

  • Argument of Contradictions: Rabbit and Tigger launch into a "Did not!"/"Did so!" version when Tigger's bouncing class destroys Rabbit's gardening class, and both argue over what Piglet told them to do.
  • Becoming Part of the Image: Piglet accidentally crashed into his family portrait with his head sticking out of a piglet wearing a sailor suit.
  • Debut Queue: While every other main character made their first appearance in the first or second episode, Kanga only makes her debut here, but in a silent cameo.
  • Drunk with Power: Tigger and Rabbit become this when they begin to order Piglies supposedly on Piglet's behalf, but it soon becomes clear the two are only feeding their own egos. It takes Piglet telling them that they aren't being good friends right now to give them a Jerkass Realization.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Tigger, Rabbit, and Piglet encounter a hyena who laughs at everything, and even Tigger feels the hyena has a few screws loose.
  • The Hyena: Tigger, Rabbit, and Piglet encounter an actual hyena on their way to the Land of Milk and Honey, who simply laughs when Rabbit asks for directions.
  • Letting the Air out of the Band: When Rabbit asks a band of musical monkeys where the Land of Milk and Honey is, their concert abruptly stops flatly before they high tail it to avoid the coming huffalump stampede.
    Band Leader: Take Five!
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Removing the "sacred tail" from the fountain statue will cause the volcano to erupt and threaten to flood the Land of Milk and Honey.
  • Oh, Crap!: When Rabbit asks the band of monkeys for directions to The Land of Milk and Honey, they are spooked by it, and the conductor orders a retreat after confirming Rabbit made the mistake of saying that name out loud.
  • Out-of-Character Moment: In this episode, Rabbit seems to enjoy going on a journey with Tigger and Piglet. Normally, he would try to keep himself out of these journeys, especially if Tigger's involved.
  • The Promised Land: The Land of Milk and Honey.
  • The Runt at the End: Whenever the huffalump herd comes through, there's always a little one in the back saying "Land of Milk and Honey! Land of Milk and Honey! Whee!", followed by jumping on Rabbit's head.
  • The Scottish Trope: Saying "The Land Of Milk And Honey" results in a stampede of heffalumps. Rabbit found this out the hard way. Twice.
  • "Setting Off" Song: "Nothing's Too Good for a Friend", sung by Tigger and Rabbit as they traverse the wood with Piglet for the Land of Milk and Honey.
  • Series Continuity Error: Tigger mentions his mother telling him about "The Land Of Milk And Honey" when he was a cub, even though later installments specifically mention Tigger is the only one of his kind, which would be a primary source of drama for him in The Tigger Movie years later. Unless of course he did have a mother... with an emphasis on "did"...
  • Small Name, Big Ego: Tigger and Rabbit let their roles of Prime Minister and Royal Chamberlin get to them so much they become spoiled.
  • Stealth Insult: This exchange:
Pooh: I cleverly put [my honey] where it's safe from honey-nappers...right in here! [pats stomach]
Rabbit: Sometimes, Pooh Bear, you really amaze me.
    Pooh: Thank you, Rabbit!
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Piglet isn't happy to see Rabbit and Tigger taking advantage of the Piglies to the point of getting them to build statues of the two.
Piglet: But people should do nice things for their friends not 'cause they have to, but because they want to. You're not being very good friends.
