Gumball and Darwin get into a prank war with Richard, one where Richard is mercilessly pranked over and over again. But will they take it too far?
Tropes:
- Air-Vent Passageway: Parodied when Gumball tries to pull this trope off, but neglects to take the cover off, leaving an air vent-shaped imprint on his face.
- Big Eater: When Richard hears his audio tape is going to be thirty minutes long, he calculates how much food he could eat in that time frame and goes to prepare it. He's eaten it all before be gets back and notes to double the proportions for the return trip.
- Bucket Booby-Trap: Richard tries this twice. First with a bucket by itself, which ends up on his head. Then with a bucket full of cement that dried into concrete and almost killed Gumball and Darwin.
- Butt-Monkey: Richard gets put through a lot of abuse in this episode.
- Creator Cameo: A magazine Darwin and Gumball draw on has a photos of Daniel Lennard (the show's executive producer and executive producer of Cartoon Network's UK channel) and an article titled "TV Gossip from George Gendi" (the storyboard artist for this episode).
- Deadly Prank: Gumball and Darwin planned to have Richard wake up on a raft in a stream, but he keeps sleeping until he's almost lost at sea. Gumball and Darwin in turn almost get their heads crushed by a bucket full of concrete (it was just supposed to be wet cement), and Richard takes advantage of the confusion to pretend like he's trying to kill them.
- Get a Hold of Yourself, Man!: Darwin slaps Gumball when he's hyperventilating, but that only makes it worse, so Darwin gives him a gentle pat on the head and encouraging words.
- Idiot Houdini: Invoked with regards to Richard. Though in this particular episode it's averted. Richard's idiocy causes him to endure a Humiliation Conga.Nicole: That wasn't very nice. You two should know better.
Gumball: What?! You didn't tell him off for pranking us!
Nicole: You know it's too late for your father. - Instant Sedation: Richard panics too much when a bucket is stuck on his head, so the paramedics shoot a tranq dart at him and he's out in seconds.
- Karma Houdini Warranty: Richard falling for Gumball and Darwin's pranks, or his pranks backfiring could be considered his karma for his actions in "The Laziest".
- Lethally Stupid: Again, Richard tried to do a bucket prank on Gumball and Darwin with cement, completely oblivious that cement dries. He almost dropped a block of concrete on their heads, to their immense shock.
- Major Injury Underreaction: Richard rather nonchalantly mentions that he broke five ribs pretending to go on a rampage.
- Naked People Are Funny: Richard, after a raft prank, comes home naked.Darwin: What happened to your clothes?
Richard: (annoyed) I ate them. - Refuge in Audacity: Gumball switches Richard's instructional tape with one he made that tells him to do all sorts of embarrassing things, like climbing on top of the roof in only his underwear before informing him he's being pranked. Then it continues to give more directions, which Richard keeps following!
- Selective Enforcement: Nicole criticizes Gumball and Darwin for pranking Richard, despite the fact that ''he'' pranked ''them'' first. When Gumball rightfully calls her out for not telling Richard off, Nicole justifies it by stating it's "too late" for Richard, which is a very lame excuse.
- Stuck in a Chimney: Gumball switches Richard's tape about pranks for beginners with a tape he recorded himself that would cause his father to humiliate himself. The last step is to go down the chimney head first and Richard does just that. He gets stuck for hours.
- Vocal Tag Team: Gumball and Darwin do this when impersonating a rap video.
- Vomit Indiscretion Shot: Richard's first prank, a salt-in-the-cereal prank, results in Gumball barfing in Darwin's face. Twice. Darwin tries to shield himself with newspaper, but it's powerful enough to shoot clean through it and into his face. Then he tastes it to see what's wrong with it.
