  • Abusive Parents: Lord Brudo and Lady Avarius are this toward Dennis, due to him being the only member of the family to still care about Ludo.
    Avarius: [Ludo] was the worst!
Dennis: [under his breath] You're the worst.
Brudo: You got something to say?!
    Dennis: No.
    Brudo: No, what?
    Dennis: No, sir.
    Brudo: That's what I thought.
  • Big Brother Worship: Dennis idolizes Ludo, chiefly due to him being the only member of the family strong enough to leave their abusive parents.
  • Call-Back:
    • A delivery man brings a box of Ludo-based merchandise (last seen in "King Ludo") to his family's manor.
    • Dennis has Ludo's skull helmet (last seen in "Storm The Castle") in his possession.
    • Dennis subjects Ludo's dimensional scissors to the same test Miss Heinous performed on Marco's hairpin at the end of "St. Olga's Reform School for Wayward Princesses", even using the same book Heinous used as a reference.
    • Dennis goes portal-crazy like how Marco did in "Running With Scissors". Thankfully Hekapoo didn't bust him for it.
  • Calling the Old Man Out: In the beginning of the episode, Dennis is too intimidated to stand up to his father. After he beats up Ludo's dummies of their family, Ludo tells Dennis that he's ready to confront the real ones.
  • The Cat Came Back: No matter how many times Dennis keeps putting away the dummies of his parents, they keep reappearing.
  • A Day in the Limelight: For both Dennis and Ludo.
  • Forgettable Character: When Dennis mentions Bird to Ludo, he responds that he doesn't know who that is. Though Ludo might just be confused because he knows him as "Eagle", not "Bird".
  • Gagging on Your Words: Ludo struggles to say "I love you" to Dennis, apparently having never said it — or have it be said to him — before.
  • Go Mad from the Isolation: It seems living in the void by himself for all those months since the events of "Toffee" has pushed Ludo off the deep end.
  • Go Mad from the Revelation: Even Dennis began losing his mind over the lack of sense Ludo put himself in, and it really got to him when dummies of his parents keep appearing, and started hearing their voices. Dennis overcomes this by standing up to the dummies.
  • Got Me Doing It: When Dennis points out that Ludo is living a delusion, he accidentally mispronounces "charade" the same way Ludo has been doing the whole episode.
  • Grew a Spine: Dennis seems to have become braver after taking out his frustrations with his parents on Ludo's dummies of them..
  • Lower-Deck Episode: The episode focuses on Ludo's family and remaining two minions, with Dennis as the protagonist.
  • Mind Screw: Another set of dummy parents appear out of nowhere and say stuff every time Dennis keeps destroying them. This receives no explanation, leaving one to guess if it was a trick by Ludo, Dennis hallucinating, a manifestation of Dennis' own trauma made physical, or a bizarre consequence of living in the void.
  • Readings Blew Up the Scale: Dennis tries to test Ludo's scissors to divine where he was sent, but as he went to a Void Between the Worlds, the solution shifts to a rainbow of colors before exploding.
  • Self-Serving Memory: Ludo remembers Dennis being shorter than him. Given Ludo thinks they're the same height while barely reaching Dennis' knee, he was most likely already bigger when they'd last met.
  • Talking to Themself: Ludo has built crude puppets of his family members and other relevant parties to talk to. Dennis ends up destroying quite a few while trying to get Ludo to snap out of it, but it seems Dennis could likely hear what Ludo was hearing from them.
  • Undying Loyalty: Even after all this time, Spider and Eagle are still waiting for their master. Spider is even proactive by getting Dennis to just randomly open portals until they find the right one.
  • Wham Shot: The end of the episode has Ludo open a closet containing dummies of Star and Marco, and his sinister expression when he invites them to "play charades" suggests he's still plotting to seek revenge.
