The forty-fourth episode of the first season of Sonic Boom.
When Dr. Eggman's particle accelerator is stolen, all evidence points to Sonic. With the citizens of Unnamed Village also claiming their items to have been stolen, Sonic must find the real thief in order to clear his name.
This episode provides examples of:
- Chekhov's Gag: Someone keeps throwing horseshoes, which results in Earl getting knocked out. During the battle against Metal Sonic, Sonic tosses a horseshoe at Metal, causing the robotic double, who is in possession of Eggman's particle accelerator, to overload and shut down.
- Clear My Name: When Sonic is accused of stealing Eggman's particle accelerator, as well as the villagers' possessions, he sets off to find the real thief and prove his innocence.
- Comically Missing the Point: When Earl brings Metal Sonic to the real Sonic, Sonic tells the Beaver Policeman "That's the real thief!". The Beaver policeman then attempts to arrest Earl before Sonic clarifies that he was talking about Metal.
- Everyone Has Standards: Mrs. Vandersnout's plan to catch Sonic is to bake a batch of cookies and lace them with poison. Mayor Fink disapproves of this plan because he doesn't want to kill Sonic.
- Find the Cure!: After Earl gets knocked out from getting hit in the head by too many horseshoes, the doctor reveals that he has a recipe for anti-horsehoe elixir, and he just needs a pink orchid root to make it. The root only grows in the West Forest.
- Gasp!: When Eggman accuses Sonic of stealing his particle accelerator, the group that had arrived to tour Eggman's fortress gasps. Whenever a clue is found to link Sonic to the crime, a dramatic note plays and the crowd gasps. Yes, every time.Sonic: Would you stop gasping dramatically?
Crowd: (gasps) - Immediate Self-Contradiction: When Earl brings Metal Sonic to the real Sonic, Sonic tells the villagers that Eggman used Metal to frame him. Eggman claims what Sonic said to be all lies, then says "Now if you'll excuse me, I'll take my metal duplicate of you suitable for framing and my particle accelerator and go."
- Karma Houdini: Although Eggman's plan to frame Sonic so he could have him arrested is foiled by Sonic, Eggman heads home just after declaring that he used Metal Sonic to frame the real Sonic, right in front of the Beaver Policeman.
- Nails on a Chalkboard: In a Shout-Out to a scene from Jaws, Knuckles scratches a chalkboard before telling the villagers that he will catch Sonic for them.
- Non Sequitur, *Thud*: When Knuckles gets blasted into a tree, he burbles "My cupcakes are missing, Grandma!" before passing out.
- Paper-Thin Disguise: Sonic wears a pair of glasses and a headband to transform into "Bob" while the townspeople are chasing him for a theft.
- Pre Ass Kicking One Liner: This line from Sonic before he defeats Metal Sonic:Sonic: I guess when you get tired, you can just recharge. That's between you and me, Metal. I don't get tired!
- Police Are Useless: The Beaver Officer threatens to arrest Sonic for stealing Eggman's particle accelerator, yet doesn't arrest Eggman after the latter outright says that he used Metal Sonic to frame the real Sonic.
- Punch! Punch! Punch! Uh Oh...: When at full power, Metal Sonic can take several punches from Knuckles without flinching or taking visible damage
- Quicksand Sucks: When the villagers follow Knuckles to assist him in finding Sonic, Knuckles tells them to quit doing that, insisting that he doesn't need help. He then sinks into a pit of quicksand afterwards and tells them it's a shortcut.
- Shout-Out:
- This episode's title is a reference to a line in The Fugitive.
- The scene where Knuckles offers to hunt Sonic is similar to Quint offering himself to hunt the shark, right down to the painful part.
- This Is Something He's Got to Do Himself: When Knuckles tells the villagers that he's going to catch Sonic for them, Mayor Fink tells him that they'll all help him. Knuckles insists that unlike tying his shoes or brushing his teeth, he has to do it without any help. Immediately afterwards, as he tries to leave, he struggles to open a door and decides to just jump out of an open window instead.
- Tour Guide Gag: Orbot and Cubot gives the citizens of Unnamed Village a tour of Eggman's lair during the time Eggman's particle accelerator gets stolen.
