Determined to prove that he can invent things just as well as Tails, Knuckles gets a chance when he and other villagers enter the Robot Battle Royale contest. Little do they know Dr. Eggman is also participating...
This episode provides examples of:
- Accidental Misnaming: Dr. Eggman misnames Knuckles "Nurples", a habit that originated from "The Meteor".
- Advanced Tech 2000: When Knuckles decides to become an inventor, he invents the Remote 2000, which is really just a stick he uses to turn light switches on and off. He then gets ideas for the Scissors 2000 to cut things and the Toaster 2000 to toast bread. Tails is quick to point out that all Knuckles is really doing is adding the number 2000 to things that already exist.
- Brick Joke: During the robot battle royale, Lady Goat's poodle robot gets kicked out of the arena by Eggman's Obliterator Bot. She shows up at the end of the episode, where she destroys Hypno-bot.
- Call-Back:
- Stratford's robot is the toy hippo riding a skateboard that Eggman had in "Bro-Down Showdown".
- U.T. from "Translate This" is among Tails' robots that Eggman manages to hypnotize with Hypno-bot.
- "Eureka!" Moment: When Knuckles reveals to Tails that he didn't program any override codes into his Vaccu-Fan 2000 robot (mostly because he didn't know how), Tails gets the idea to use to get close enough to his Hypno-bot so he can reprogram it.
- It's Been Done: When Knuckles becomes an inventor, he tries to invent something new, but Tails points out that all Knuckles is really doing is taking ideas that have already been done and adding the number 2000 to the end of them, including a remote control, scissors, a toaster, and a turkey sandwich.
- Killer Rabbit: Lady Goat's robot is a toy poodle that causes whatever it touches to explode.
- Mindcontrol Device: Tails' Hypno-bot has the ability to mind-control other robots. When Eggman gets ahold of Hypno-bot's override code (due to the safe Mayor Fink locked it in being made by Eggman Industries), he uses it to hypnotize Tails' other robots to work for him.
- The Roast: When Knuckles asks if Tails is up for the Robot Battle Royale contest:Tails: Uh, I don't know, Knuckles. Not sure that's the best use of my time.
Knuckles: Oh, I get it: you're chicken!
Sonic, Amy & Sticks: Ooh!
Amy: Oh no, he didn't.
Tails: I'm not chicken, I just don't have anything to prove.
Knuckles: Oh, that's alright, Tails. It's gotta be tough knowing there's a new-shot inventor in town and you're just yesterday's news.
Sonic, Amy & Sticks: Ooh!
Tails: Knuckles, I appreciate your enthusiasm, but I'm really not interested.
Knuckles: Not interested in losing...to me!
Sonic: Boom!
Amy: Shots fired!
Sticks: Dang, son!
