Lois's younger sister Lucy (Peyton List) comes to Smallville and wins over everyone she meets, but Clark soon discovers that Lucy has an ulterior motive for her visit.

Tropes present in the episode:

  • Antagonist Title: Lucy is actually pulling a con on Lex along with Becker.
  • Are We There Yet?: Lampshaded by Lois.
Lois: Are we there yet? Have you ever been in a car and not uttered those words?
  • Big Sister Instinct: Lois has this toward Lucy.
  • Brainy Brunette: Lucy is an ace student in a prestigious school in Europe and fluent in 3 languages.
  • The Charmer: Lucy manages to gain the symphony of Clark and Lex in order to con them.
  • The Con: Lucy and Becker are actually trying to pull one on Lex. It goes wrong when Lois is kidnapped.
  • Cute Clumsy Girl: Lois as a waitress at the Talon.
  • Damsel in Distress: The Lane sisters are kidnapped and held for ransom by Becker.
  • Evil Debt Collector: Marcus Becker is one from Germany.
  • Green-Eyed Monster:
    • Lois is jealous of her sister for attending boarding school while Lois was stuck living with General Sam at various army bases.
    • Lucy, on the other hand, is jealous of Lois since she got to stay at home while she was shipped off to a boarding school and sees it as Parental Favoritism.
  • Hidden Depths: Although Lois seems snarky, sarcastic, and confident on the outside, this episode reveals much of it is a facade to hide her inner vulnerability and insecurities.
  • High-Speed Hijack: Clark does this to the truck Becker is driving when he kidnaps the Lane sisters.
  • Lethal Chef: Lois tries cooking the Kents breakfast as a prelude to asking them if Lucy can stay with them. The results aren't spectacular.
    Clark: Lois, what's going on?
    Lois: What do you mean?
Clark: You made us breakfast, you're offering to do chores. [Beat; realizes] You want something.
Lois: No, it's called being nice.
    Martha: [chiding] Clark...
  • Mock Millionaire: Lucy, due to living in a boarding school surrounded by rich girls starts pretending to be one in order to fit in, which is how she got into trouble with a Loan Shark. Or at least that's the story she tells Clark to get his sympathy.
  • Mundanger: Marcus Becker, a normal human.
  • Off Bridge, onto Vehicle: Clark executes this.
  • Parental Favoritism: Both the Lois sister suffer from this.
    • Lois thinks Lucy got preferential treatment for being sent to a school where she could get the best education and a future. Lucy saw it as her dad preferring Lois to be around him instead of her. Though they both eventually, sadly, realized that neither exactly got preferential treatment.
    • At the end of the episode, after she tells him what happened, the General yells at Lois and calls her the weakest link of their family.
  • Promotion to Parent: General Lane put Lois in charge of Lucy when their mother passed away, since he didn't know how to handle young girls. It ended up screwing their relationship.
  • Put on a Bus: After being caught by Lex, Lucy manages to steal a car and drive away with the money. She's not seen again until Ambush.
  • The Reveal:
    • Lana is the one who trashed the apartment and "stole" the Stone. Presumably as a Secret Test of Character for Jason if he cares more about her or the Stone. She finds out it's the Stone.
    • Lois finds out that Lucy owed Marcus money because he gives her her favorite sandwich.
  • This Is Reality: Said by Jason when Lana wishes she could forget about the Stones.
Lana: I don't care about these stones; I just want to forget they ever existed.
Jason: Lana, this isn't some bad dream that you can just blink away. This is real life.
  • Villain of the Week: Marcus Becker an Evil Debt Collector that's after Lucy.
