(CWi Episode: "Dental Dilemma")

Palla Palla takes her turn in finding the white monster by placing a spell on the city that gives every kid cavities, thus forcing them to flock to her kid-friendly and "totally not suspicious" dentist office. And it looks like Usagi and Chibi-Usa will have to go after getting cavities of their own.

Tropes in this episode include:

  • Beware the Silly Ones: Palla Palla hates being underestimated! While acting as the most childish of the Quartet, she's also shown to be the most sadistic and grim of the four. Heck, it's also worth mentioning that her method of hunting Pegasus with her Poison and Cure Gambit was actually effective and quite creative.
  • Big "NO!": Usagi and Chibi-Usa scream this after learning that they have real cavities and weren't cursed like the other kids.
  • Call-Back: Going aaaaall the way back to Episode 1, Sailors Moon and Chibi Moon use their Sonic Yell to overpower the Monster of the Week while causing significant property damage.
  • Cold Open: Nehelenia is introduced in her dark and hollow void while speaking with Zirconia about her work progress.
  • Crazy-Prepared: Knowing that her friends wouldn't dream of bringing up their cavities to Ikuko, Ami makes sure to call her to let her know in advance.
  • Creepy Child: Palla Palla is this in full spades. Her idea of fixing her doll's toothache is to rip off her head. Her Quartet friends and Zirconia are all disturbed by her sadism.
  • Dentist Episode: After neglecting their dental health, Usagi and Chibs have to go to the dentist. And to avoid having to go to the family's horrific old dentist, they decide to go to the new dentist shop that just opened.
  • Depraved Dentist: Minako informs Makoto that the Juuban Dentistry has one of the worst dentists in existence because of his cold-hearted practices and how unsympathetic he is with treating his patients.
  • Dissonant Serenity: The sad piano version of Moonlight Densetsu plays as Usagi begs her boyfriend to be by her side while she's at the dentist.
  • Downer Ending: Played for Laughs. Usagi and Chib-Usa still have to go to Juuban's oldest dentist who's all too happy to work on their sugar-faces for the next two hours. All they can do is scream their hearts out while Mamoru listens with pity and dismay.
  • Everyone Has Standards: The other Amazons and Zirconia are all disturbed by PallaPalla decapitating a doll while playing dentist.
  • Foreshadowing: After Palla Palla unleashes her sugar curse onto the city, the screams of children can be heard instantly from the pain in their teeth. In comparison, Usagi and Chibi-usa never reacted in pain like the kids with Chibi-usa only reacting the following day; thus hinting that they had natural cavities instead of supernatural ones.
  • Gluttony Montage: The main heroes spend their night eating delicious food and mouth-watery desserts. Though unlike traditional examples, the focus is more on the girls' teeth getting worse instead of the food they consumed.
  • Hypocrite:
    • Cere Cere brushes off Palla Palla by saying that she (a pro-adolescent young girl) doesn't have time to play with children.
    • Usagi chastise her daughter for only thinking about food. She says this while holding an elote.
  • Hypocritical Humor: Mamoru shows genuine jealousy when Usagi starts to gush over the handsome new dentist. But then he gets it bad when he blushes at the lady dentist while his girlfriend disapproves.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Usagi tries to scare her daughter by saying that she'll have to see a scary old dentist if she wants to get rid of her cavities. Then she learns from Ami that she has cavities and needs to visit the dentist too.
  • Living Toys: As part of her con, Palla Palla turns her dolls into human beings so they can greet the suckers into entering the dental office.
  • Mythology Gag: The episode is heavily based on one of the manga's side stories with the main differences being that Palla Palla is the main villain instead of a random ghost and Kenji Tsukino has ceased to exist.
  • Near-Villain Victory: Palla Palla manages to capture both Usagi and Chibi-Usa. And she was dangerously close to finding the latter's Golden Dream Mirror if it wasn't for that meddling Tuxedo Mask.
  • Off with His Head!: Palla Palla cheerfully rips off one of her doll's head to fix her toothache.
  • Oh, Crap!:
    • Ami's horrified when she sees how many cavities Chibi-Usa has, especially in the Cloverway dub.
Amy: Rini, what have you been eating?!
      Rini: Ice cream?
      Amy: By the truckload!
    • Mamoru gets this way when he realizes that none of the children who were waiting in line for the new dentist actually left the building.
  • Plot Hole: After defeating the dentist dolls, Tuxedo Mask frees the girls and openly tells them to transform. He says this without realizing that Palla Palla was still in the same room as him.
  • Poison and Cure Gambit: The Blue One's trap involves sending a sugary spell all over Juuban that gives every child painful cavities. Then, using her newly renovated dental office, the kids would be lured into coming in which would make into sitting ducks to have their Dream Mirrors reaped.
  • Real After All: After Palla Palla's spell wears off and the magically-induced cavities vanish, it turns out the ones the two Moon girls had were the real deal and they still need to get their teeth drilled.
  • Running Gag: Palla Palla hates Tuxedo Mask for ruining her plans. She also hates losing after Sailor Moon destroys her Lemure.
  • This Cannot Be!: Zirconia is startled to learn that Commander Zircon couldn't find a target to go after.
  • This Is a Drill: The Blue One summons Gare Gare Girl who resembles a giant bar of toothpaste and uses a drill tail to terrorize the Sailor Guardians.
  • Villain Opening Scene: Nehelenia starts the episode by contacting her hench-loser Zirconia to ask if she found the Golden Mirror yet. It then follows with Zirconia assigning Palla Palla to look for Pegasus after being momentarily traumatized by her.
