Go To

The Runaways face off with PRIDE'S dirty cops, Flores and AWOL. Against all objections, Alex blackmails AWOL to help. But AWOL refuses. PRIDE resolves to take the kids by force. Back at the Hostel, Karolina hears a mysterious voice.

  • 10-Minute Retirement: PRIDE reassembles after having just dissolved last episode.
  • Asshole Victim: Nobody is gonna miss Detective Flores.
  • Continuity Nod: Finally, the series namedrops aspects of the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe: a Roxxon Energy advertising can bee seen in the opening scene. Roxxon is one of a major Evil, Inc. both in the mainstream comics and in the rest of the MCU, particularly in Cloak & Dagger (2018). Later, Alex mentions Wakanda.
  • Cruel and Unusual Death: AWOL locks Flores in a meat freezer and turns up the settings, resulting in a brutal, icy death.
  • Deal with the Devil:
    • Alex makes a deal with AWOL, trying to get his help in taking down PRIDE in exchange for leaving him and his corrupt strike team alone. Instead, AWOL takes the evidence to PRIDE in order to become their new chief muscle.
    • Beforehand, Tamar also tried to make a deal with AWOL to get intel on PRIDE. At the end of the episode, he kidnaps Livvie instead.
  • Didn't Think This Through: Alex acts extremely headstrong throughout the episode, at first confronting AWOL out in the open and then making a deal with him.
  • Fighting from the Inside: Both Tina and Stacey are fighting off their respective possessions but aren't aware of what's going on.
  • Hoist Hero over Head: Inverted, as Molly does this to Detective Flores.
  • Internal Reveal: Livvie learns about Old Lace.
  • Mistreatment-Induced Betrayal: After telling AWOL that he'll find another thug to do his job in case he doesn't stay in line, AWOL murders Flores.
  • "Not So Different" Remark: During her What the Hell, Hero? to Alex for making a deal with AWOL, Livvie says the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Robert is disturbed when he finds Tina lustily eating cake. Likewise, Dale is shocked Stacey locked the door to their lab and isn't wearing glasses. Both are hints that they have been possessed.
  • Poison Is Evil: A drone sprays Old Lace with some kind of poison, which worsens her condition quickly. Due to their Psychic Link, Gert gets sick too. If you watch closely you'll see Stacey manipulating a drone when she temporarily breaks free of her possession.
  • Shout-Out: Alex mentions Wakanda.
  • The Starscream: Flores has been piling up evidence against PRIDE for all the crimes he helped cover up to use them against them.
    • AWOL betrays Flores and takes all of Flores' evidence to PRIDE to take Flores' place as PRIDE's enforcer and fixer.
  • Wham Shot: Tina and Stacey seem to be possessed by somebody.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Livvie and the rest of the Runaways are extremely angry with Alex for making a deal with AWOL. He is unrepetant about it however, even calling them a bunch of hypocrites for their own questionable actions.
  • Would Hurt a Child:
    • After Livvie delivers evidence on Darius being innocent of Destiny Gonzales' murder, Catherine orders a hit on her. She later also doesn't seem to be bothered by the fact that AWOL almost hit Tamar's baby son Xerxes in the process.
    • Flores was also ready to torture Molly. Too bad he didn't know about her Super-Strength.
