The second episode of the eighth season of Rugrats (1991).

After being barred from trick-or-treating, Angelica tricks the babies into thinking that they're going to turn into their Halloween costumes unless they give her their candy.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Becoming the Costume: In this episode, Angelica convinces the babies that they will be transformed into their Halloween costumes.
  • Bedsheet Ghost: Spike and Fifi wear bedsheets with eye holes in them as ghost costumes.
  • Big "NO!": Chuckie does one after Angelica lies that he will become the costume he will be wearing for Halloween, also with Eat the Camera to close it. Because of the scary situations Chuckie gets himself into, it's common to hear him use this fairly often, sometimes obscured by screaming or crying.
  • Brick Joke: When they get to the amusement park, Stu mentions how much fun bobbing for apples will be with his fangs. Later in the episode, we see that he’s lost his fangs in the tub of water.
  • Bring My Brown Pants: After a zombie hand scares Chuckie, he tells the other babies that at least now he doesn't have to worry about needing to use the bathroom anymore.
  • Cowardly Lion: When Chuckie finds Angelica scared out of her wits in the haunted house, he stands up to her, telling her to change him back into a baby so he can lead her and his friends out of the haunted house. He also stands up to the zombies along the way.
  • Deliberately Monochrome: Chuckie's nightmare is shown in black and white like an old monster movie.
  • Does Not Like Spam: Angelica is once again shown to dislike coconut-flavored chocolates.
  • Failed Attempt at Scaring: Stu can’t even manage to scare his toddler son with his monster mask. He does manage to get Chas and Chuckie though.
  • Friendly Neighborhood Vampire: Stu dresses himself and Tommy in vampire costumes for Halloween.
  • Halloween Costume Characterization: Spoiled Brat Angelica dresses as a princess and goody-two-shoes Susie goes as an angel.
  • Halloween Episode: The babies are afraid that they’re going to turn into monsters on “Hallow-mean.”
  • It's Like I Always Say:
Betty: I always say, the best way to keep from being scared is to be more scary than what you’re scared of!
Chas: Oh...actually, I’ve never heard you say that.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: At the end of the episode, Angelica's parents catch her in the act of stealing a piece of Chuckie's candy and decide to put her in time out.
  • Magic Feather: When Chuckie finds out he wasn't a real werewolf after all, he asks Tommy why he was so brave when he stood up to Angelica and led them out of the haunted house. Tommy tells him that maybe the courage was inside him all along.
  • Malaproper:
    • The babies mispronounce "werewolf" as "werewuff", hence this episode's title.
    • They also call Halloween, “Hallow-mean.”
  • Manchild: In this episode, Stu is shown to be more excited about celebrating Halloween than the babies are. Didi even offers to take him trick-or-treating at the end.
  • Mouth Cam: We see through Angelica’s mouth as she eats a piece of Chuckie’s candy and gets busted by her parents.
  • Potty Emergency: Chuckie mentions to the other babies that he needs to go potty, but decides to wait until he's a baby again before he uses the bathroom. His urgency to use the bathroom may also have played a part in him being brave enough to stand up to Angelica and tell her to change them all back into babies.
  • Pushover Parents: The first time Angelica gets caught eating candy after her parents tell her not to, she convinces them to let her eat just one piece (which turns out to be a coconut-flavored chocolate, much to her disgust). Later, when they punish her after catching her eating candy a second time, she tries to convince them otherwise. Drew is about to give in, but Charlotte reminds him that Angelica disobeyed them.
  • Retcon: This episode established as being the babies' first Halloween even though there was already an earlier Halloween episode called "Candy Bar Creep Show". It's likely it could be most of the babies' second Halloween (except for Dil, obviously) and they simply forgot what it is due to their very young age.
  • Shout-Out: When Kimi first appears in her witch costume, "Teddy Bear's Picnic" plays as the background music.
  • Torches and Pitchforks: In his nightmare, when Chuckie becomes a "werewuff", he gets chased by his friends and family, who form an angry mob.
  • Trap Door: The babies fall through one leading out of the haunted house.
