Planting Dil
When Didi talks about planting dill in her herb garden, the babies think she's going to plant clones of Dil instead.
The Joke's On You
Angelica plays tricks on the babies, and sets things up to make it look like Dil did it.
"Planting Dil" provides examples of:
- Chekhov's Gag: Early in the episode, one of the toys the babies try to calm a crying Dil with is a one-eyed doll, which Lil dubs "Rosemary". Spike finds it and buries it in Didi's garden, and when he digs it up the next day, the babies think a Dil clone is sprouting.
- Collector of the Strange: In this episode, Lou is revealed to collect rutabagas shaped like the heads of former U.S. Presidents.
- Diaper Check: When Tommy gets Chuckie, Phil, and Lil prepared for the arrival of the Dil clones, he asks Lil "Diapies?". Upon hearing this, Lil says "I'd better check." as she checks her own diaper, until Tommy reminds her that he was referring to the diapers for the Dil clones.
- Filthy Fun: Phil loves to play in the dirt, and thinks Didi and Lou are doing so when planting their crops.
- Help, I'm Stuck!: On their way to the garden to check if Didi planted the dill seeds, Chuckie gets his shoelace caught on the sprinkler.
- Imagine Spot: The babies have one where a whole crop of Dil clones is planted and they try unsuccessfully to keep them from crying.
- Literal-Minded: When Didi says she's going to planti dill in her herb garden, the babies think she's growing clones of Dil.
- Plant Person: In the babies' Imagine Spot, the Dil clones that grow in Didi's garden consist of human heads on plant bodies.
- Toilet Humor: Early in the episode, when the babies try to calm a crying Dil, Dil poops his diaper.
"The Joke's On You" provides examples of:
- Blind Without Them: Angelica takes Chuckie's glasses and puts them on Lil, whom the other babies think is Phil since Angelica put her ribbon on Phil. When Chuckie looks over at a barbecue grill, he says "Give me back my glasses, Phil!"
- Garden-Hose Squirt Surprise: At the end of the episode, Angelica washes Cynthia's hair with the Pickles' garden hose, when Dil steps on it, stopping the water flow. When Angelica looks into the hose, Dil steps off the hose, resulting in Angelica getting squirted.
- I Want My Mommy!: Angelica shouts "Mommy!" after she gets sprayed in the face by Dil at the end of the episode.
- Identical Twin ID Tag: Lil's ribbon. When Angelica puts it on Phil, this results in the babies thinking that Phil is Lil and Lil is Phil.
- Laser-Guided Karma: Angelica spends the episode pulling pranks on the babies and framing Dil. At the end of the episode, she tries to wash Cynthia's hair, only for Dil to step on the hose, then off it, resulting in her getting squirted in the face.
- Malaproper: The babies mispronounce "dungeon" as "Dungie".
- Mechanical Insects: At the beginning of this episode, Stu invents a robot bee, as well as a robot flower for it to land on. Drew plants the robot flower in Lou's pants, then has Stu land the bee on it to prank Lou and frame Stu.
- Off with His Head!: Lil says this after she trips over Chuckie's Mr. Quigley doll. When Chuckie objects to this, Lil decides to take Mr. Quigley to the "dungie" instead.
- Possession Presumes Guilt:
- When Lou finds Stu's mechanical flower in his pants and the robot bee on it, he blames Stu even though Drew was the one who planted the flower.
- Throughout the episode, Angelica plays pranks on the babies, who blame Dil since Angelica plants evidence on him that leaves him guilty.
- The Prankster: Angelica. After seeing Drew prank Lou and frame Stu, she decides to prank the babies and frame Dil.
- Rule of Three: Angelica plays three pranks on the babies and frames Dil for them. First, she shakes up the tunnel the babies walk through. Then, she loosens the wheels on the Reptar Wagon so it'll tip over when Tommy gives Chuckie and Lil a ride. Finally, she puts Chuckie's shoes on Tommy's feet, Chuckie's glasses on Lil, and Lil's ribbon on Phil.
- Senior Sleep-Cycle: Lou falls asleep after reading a story about a king and queen to them. This allows Angelica to get away with her pranks.
- Trail of Bread Crumbs: Angelica takes Dil's box of animal cookies, which has a hole ripped in the bottom. When the babies see the trail of animal cookies, they follow it and find Angelica in the tunnel, where they find out that she was the one who pranked them and framed Dil.
- Vehicular Sabotage: Angelica's second prank involves her loosening the wheels of the Reptar wagon so it'll tip over when Tommy gives Chuckie and Lil a ride in it.
