Go To

Tropes

  • Adaptation Explanation Extrication: In Ohranger, Adrian's counterpart was revealed to have been killed and then dissected by Bacchus to keep Pollenator's counterpart in line (It backfired, let's just say). This scene wasn't used in Power Rangers due to being too dark and disturbing for American children which lead to...

  • The Ahnold: Adrian has the voice.
  • A Lighter Shade of Black: While very much vicious monsters, Pollenator and Adrian are shown to care for each other.
  • Bad Boss: Mondo separates Pollenator and Adrian when the latter makes a simple mistake and orders the former to go fight alone for no other reason.
  • Brooklyn Rage: Pollenator
  • Dies Differently in Adaptation: Due to the above scene's removal, Pollenator is instead destroyed by oxygen-powered Zeo Laser Pistols. In Ohranger, Bara Cactus #1 survived the blasts and returned to the Machine Palace to see his brother (Bara Cactus #2), only to find out that Bacchus killed him. He then tries to attack Bacchus only to be beheaded as an example to others on what happens to those who attempt to rebel.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: Adrian made a minor flaw during his fight with the Rangers, which results in Mondo pulling them back to the palace and forcing Pollenator to fight alone. If Mondo had just ordered both to cooperate with each other instead of threatening one to get the other to obey him, things might have turned out differently.

  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Pollenator refuses to go fight without his cousin Adrian, but Mondo threatens the latter to get the former to obey his order.
  • Forgot About His Powers: It doesn't seem to occur to Klank and Orbus to grow Pollenator after his defeat. This was due to the Ohranger equivalent happening before their counterparts got their upgrade to grow monsters.
  • Hurricane of Puns: Rocky, when he's turning into a plant.
  • Left Hanging: Adrian is last seen being surrounded by Cogs and is never mentioned again. Given his counterpart's fate, it's probably better that way.
  • Make My Monster Grow: Averted; as this episode's Sentai equivalent happened before Klank and Orbus' counterparts gained the ability to grow monsters.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: In spite of their argument, Pollenator cares enough about Adrian to see that his safety is assured when Mondo threatens his life.

  • What Happened to the Mouse?: Adrian, the other plant monster, is never heard from again after Pollenator is killed. See Adaptation Explanation Extrication for more.
