Tropes

  • The Cast Show Off: Jason Narvy is trained in the classical arts.
  • Classical Music Is Cool: In episode, it's revealed that Skull is a talented piano player, but is too scared to admit it to people because he believes that it would make him lose his macho cred and lose the respect of his friend Bulk, who hates classical music. After convincing from Adam, Skull agrees to do a performance in front of the school. His skills wow the audience, with Bulk coming up to him and admitting that it was the most beautiful thing he had ever heard. He even takes back his insult about classical and admits that he was wrong with Skull being the best he's ever heard.
  • Diegetic Music: The Cog fight in the high school is accompanied by the music of the mystery piano player, rather than the usual hard rock fight theme.
  • Dreadful Musician: Subverted. Everyone assumes Skull will be this, the opening bars of his performance seemed to imply this, but then he begins to play for real and everyone (including most likely the audience) is astonished.
  • Genius Bonus: The piece that Skull performs is Chopin's Etude Opus 10 N. 12, a very advanced piece on par with the second fugue of Bach's "Well Tempered Claviar" and just a step behind Liszt's Hungarian Rhapsody.
  • Hidden Depths: Skull is revealed to be a talented piano player, but doesn't want Bulk to find out because he thinks he'll lose macho cred. Adam convinces him to give a performance... And Bulk is genuinely amazed that he praises him and and admits that he was wrong about an earlier comment he made to which he apologizes for. It also shows not just their improved relationship with the Ranger teens, but also the true strength of their friendship. Aww.
  • Shout-Out: Skull's usual Annoying Laugh at the end of his performance has a certain dignified air, no doubt inspired by Mozart's own Annoying Laugh from Amadeus and apparently real life.
  • You and What Army?:
    Adam: I'll stop you!
    Fortissimodo: You and what orchestra?
