While Linda is doing her gardening, the boys decide to build a device that can write messages in the sky to communicate with Sergei, a cosmonaut working on a space station. Meanwhile, Candace is stuck in bed because of a broken ankle.

- Accidental Hero: Candace's helicopter toy with the Mindy Mimic doll, saying turn around to the ionizer to warn the astronauts.
- Aside Comment: After Stacy agrees to help Candace bust her brothers (again), she turns to the camera and says, "I am such an enabler."
- The Backwards Я: The banner at Sergei's party is written in Russian, but when the asteroids are about to hit the space station, the computer console reads "ASTEЯOID WДЯИIИG!" in readable English.
- Bait-and-Switch: Candace watches Stacy on her monitor saying "Turn around!", assuming she is talking to Linda, but she is actually telling Phineas to turn around.
- Big Word Shout: Candace frantically whines, "TURN AROUND!!!" as she limps out to Linda and forcibly gets her to turn around.
- Chekhov's Gun: The Mindy Mimic doll and toy helicopter are initially scoffed at by Candace at the start of the episode when Phineas and Ferb give Candace some toys to stave off cabin fever. She later realizes the doll's potential later on, and attaches it to the helicopter to fly down to Mom.

- Downer Ending: Candace failed to bust her brothers as usual, likely reinjured her ankle as a result and so will miss the Tiny Cowboy concert, while the kids failed to give Sergei a happy birthday message with no way to reach out to him; though an alien that looks like Ferb manages to do so somewhere beyond time.
- Failed a Spot Check: Not once does Candace notice that her mom is wearing noise-cancelling headphones, and that's why she can't hear her.
- Five-Second Foreshadowing: When the astronauts enter the wormhole, the void of space outside the spaceship are instead very trippy colors. Anyone who has seen 2001: A Space Odyssey will know where this is going (Indeed, it leads into a Homage to the final scene of the film).
- Headphones Equal Isolation: Linda is wearing headphones to listen to Lawrence's soundscapes while she does her gardening. It prevents her from noticing the boys' project right behind her.
- Idiot Ball: Stacy has no excuse to not take off Linda's headphones and drag her to the project site so she can see what the boys did.
- Injured Limb Episode: Candace has fractured her leg due to falling down the stairs when distracted by thoughts about Jeremy.
- Parental Obliviousness: The scene where Linda bats the helicopter with Mindy Mimic away provides the current page image.
- Plot Hole: When Candace said "Boring" and "Big whoop" into Mindy Mimic, it repeated once, but when she said "Mom, turn around", it repeated endlessly.
- Repeat After Me: The Mindy Mimic doll repeats whatever the holder says.
- Running Gag: Much like how the Mary Mcguffin doll was a Memento Macguffin in Finding Mary McGuffin, a different doll is also prominently used in the episode; this time a Mindy Mimic doll to alert Mom to turn around.

- The title is a reference to "Tommy, Can You Hear Me?" from the album Tommy by The Who.
- Multiple to 2001: A Space Odyssey; especially the trippy ending.
- At one point, Candace uses Phineas and Ferb's remote to change her background. It briefly becomes Vincent van Gogh's The Starry Night.
- Take That!: The kids about to sing into the ionizer only for Mindy Mimic to stick to the mic and deliver the "turn around" message instead is a jab at "Happy Birthday to You!" being copyrighted when this episode was in production.
