Recap / Milo Murphy's Law S1E22 "The Llama Incident"

Go To

Milo and Melissa finally tell Zack the story of the infamous Llama Incident.

It involves llamas.

Tropes:

  • Bait-and-Switch: After Zack says he figured out how to escape their predicament, a scene shows three things falling into the floor and leaving red splatters. It turs out those were three bags of red paint dropped by Mort.
  • Call-Back: The episode referrences and explains all the previous mentions of the llama incident.
    • The Undergrounders: Milo used his second seatbelt to help Melissa escape from the llamas.
    • Rooting for the Enemy: We see the game the llamas stampeded. Even funnier, the Geckos are playing against the Tigers.
    • We're Going to the Zoo: Milo filled his t-shirt gun with knock out gas to subdue a polar bear.
    • Murphy's Lard: We get to see Melissa stuck on a tightrope.
  • Exactly What It Says on the Tin: Llamalet: "It's Hamlet, but with llamas."
Milo: "Well, I guess that quote says it all."
  • Flashback: To all the previous instances Milo and Melissa have mentioned the llama incident to Zack, and to the llama incident itself.
  • Freeze-Frame Bonus: Some kind of pistachio creature can be seen at the game. They're part of the myth arc of the first season...
  • Gelatinous Encasement: A spat of bad luck results in a giant can of pistachio gelatin encasing Melissa from the waist up as she has to run away from an army of llamas.
  • Gratuitous Spanish: Apparently Diogee needs to be given the command to herd Llamas in Spanish.
  • How We Got Here: The Llama incident flashback starts with Melissa on a tightrope and Llamas stampeding at a football game. Zack immediately interrupts in order to find out how the incident even got to that point.
    • Hilariously, Milo begins with a typical In The Beginning, explaining how the llamas even ended up in the Tri-State Area, only for Zack to tell him that he went too far back.
  • Literal Cliffhanger: Milo, Melissa, and Zack spend the story hanging from a tree on the side of a cliff.
  • Noodle Incident:
    • How Milo, Melissa and Zack end up hanging from a tree on the side of a cliff is never shown.
    • How Zack manages to save them all in midair is never shown either (though we are quickly shown a few clips of things that might have happened in the process).
    • The montage of mentions of the Llama Incident starts with clips from previous episodes, then shows several new clips with no context. The last one shows Milo and Melissa in caveman outfits and Zack tied to a rock with a llama carving, somewhere that looks like Stonehenge.
  • On a Scale from One to Ten: Milo and Melissa decide to rate their adventure while hanging from a tree on the side of a cliff, which Zack objects to.
  • Remembered I Could Fly: It isn't until the very end that Milo remembers Diogee is part Llama herder.
  • Resolved Noodle Incident: This episode is dedicated to Milo and Melissa explaining the Llama Incident to Zack.
  • Shout-Out: To several musicals, such as Hamilton and West Side Story.
  • Speaks Fluent Animal: Inverted Trope, Diogee can understand Spanish because he took a class on it with Milo.
  • Strange Minds Think Alike: During the flashback, Melissa asked if llamas are leathery like briefcases. Later on, the referee says the hooves of the llama beating him up are hard and leathery like briefcases.
  • The End... Or Is It?: The episode ends with a few stills of the "Woodpecker Incident" followed by the same "The End?" from The Substitute. Well, How exactly was a Pistachion at the ball game?
  • The Unreveal: When Milo commanded Diogee to herd the llamas, no explanation is given or even asked for the command being given in Spanish instead of English, only how both Milo and Diogee learned Spanish.
