  • Credits Gag: A basketball buzzer sound is heard at the very end of the credits.
  • Easter Egg: At one point, the acronym DTVA appears, referencing the company that produced it.
  • Gone Horribly Right: Mickey succeeds in teaching the teams about good sportsmanship, but at the price of the teams hugging each other and refusing to move on with the game.
  • Inexplicably Identical Individuals: Everyone in this short, except for Mickey, is Goofy.
  • Mythology Gag: The fact that all the characters, except for Mickey, in this short are Goofy and the short being sports-themed is a throwback to the classic Goofy shorts.
  • Nightmare Face: The Goofy with an afro makes one when he asks about bad sportsmanship. He has scary yellow eyes and fangs.
  • No Celebrities Were Harmed: Mickey's announcer outfit is based on that of Howard Cosell.
