Recap / Memory Records Volume 10 Chapter 2 The Homeless Sorcerer

Go To

After losing her home in a housefire, the homeless Eve gains help from Glenn to find a new place to live in.

Tropes:

  • Accidental Pervert: Glenn got a good look at Eve's bare body due to her running away from her bath upon the sight of "Z".
  • Aw, Look! They Really Do Love Each Other: Even though Glenn and Eve spend much time arguing and bickering with each other. The moment Glenn notices something is wrong with Eve, he immediately helps her and outright admits he is genuinely worried about her. Once he finds out the problem, he actively helps her find a new place to live in.
  • Big Creepy-Crawlies: The real reason why the "Z House" is so notorious is due to being invested by 1-meter-long cockroaches called "Z" with Eve and the others being terrified and disgusted at the sight of it although they still go easily down with a few gunshots from Glenn.
  • Blatant Lies: Glenn pokes holes in Eve's claims that her apartment in the upper district went up in flames by remembering that the only housefire he read in the news was one in the poor district and that her lack of insurance money makes no sense since he knows that houses in the upper district should be insured as the standard. Eve shuts him up with a Facepalm Of Doom.
  • Broke Episode: Eve becomes homeless due to a house fire.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: Sistine and Rumia can't help being envious of Eve due to how sincerely and seriously Glenn helps her.
  • Forgot About Her Powers: Eve was so shocked over the sight of her apartment burning up that she forgot that she could put out the fire herself due to specializing in fire magic.
  • From Roommates to Romance: This is what Sistine and Rumia fear what would happen if Eve were to temporarily take residence in the Arfonia mansion although luckily for them Eve rejects the proposal due to Celica's dislike towards her.
  • Haunted House: This is what the group thinks the "Z House" Eve initially chose is since it is way too big and fancy for such a low price. Despite this Eve still bought it due to having magic specializing in exorcising ghosts. However, this is subverted since the house is invested by giant bugs caused by another resident's experiment.
  • He's Not My Boyfriend: The real estate agent mistakes Glenn for Eve's husband, although the ones that correct his mistake are Sistine and Rumia.
  • Hidden Depths: Glenn surprisingly has a lot of knowledge about the real state when helping Eve find a new apartment.
  • Hypocritical Humor: Sistine calls Eve a "troublesome tsundere" even though she shows similar behavior herself. Rumia lampshades this by wondering if Sistine has the right to say that.
  • Jerkass Realization: While taking a bath in the "Z House", Eve realizes how harsh she acted towards Glenn despite the help he gave her and plans on apologizing later.
  • Luminescent Blush: This happens to Eve several times in the story due to her feeling embarrassed and flustered by Glenn such as him giving her a Rescue Hug and a Wall Pin of Love along with the sincere help he gives her.
  • No Sense of Personal Space: Let's just say that Glenn invades Eve's personal space several times throughout the story such as giving the woman a Rescue Hug when she falls over due to exhaustion, giving her a Wall Pin of Love to look at her complexion and looking over her shoulder when he helps her find a new home in the real state building. This is lampshaded by Sistine and Rumia with the former outright stating that part of Eve's odd behavior came due to his actions.
  • Noodle Incident: Exactly what the former tenant (that is all but outright stated to be Orwell) did with their experiment in the "Z House" to make it invested by huge bugs is unclear.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business:
    • Glenn noticed something was off with Eve due to her acting slightly more sloppier and exhausted than usual ranging from something as little as a small wrinkle in her uniform to a paler complexion.
    • Sistine and Rumia cannot help but note how sincere and serious Glenn is in helping Eve despite his laziness and vitriolic relationship with her and fear the worst possible outcome.
  • Simple Solution Won't Work: Eve can't simply temporarily move into the Arfonia mansion due to Celica's dislike towards her or the Fibel residence due to not wanting to live in the house of her students.
  • Throw the Dog a Bone: After much hardship, the story ends on a happy note with Eve finding herself a nice apartment with Glenn's help.
  • Tsundere: Throughout the story, Eve becomes very flustered due to Glenn's kindness towards her, which causes her to act more rebelliously against him to protect her pride and self-esteem.
  • Yank the Dog's Chain: After being banished from her household and facing other hardships, Eve finally manages to settle down into her new life. Only for her to see her apartment on fire along with her property.
