After Truman (with Skits) explains that the vocab words are about weather, Helen is seen eating a popsicle on her porch on a hot day, while Martha and Skits lie on the grass panting. A man empties his icebox on the ground, so the dogs run up to eat the ice, but by the time they get there, the ice has melted. The dogs enter the house to find Mariella watching the weather on TV. The weather lady explains that soon, the weather will cool down, and when that happens, a storm will happen. The storm begins, scaring Skits, but Martha tries to reassure him that he will get used to thunder... only to become scared herself when it thunders.
The dogs run and hide under Danny and Mariella's bed, but Martha tries to pretend she was looking for a shoebox and wants to spend time with it. Then, Skits runs away, hoping to find somewhere where there's no thunder. When Truman is teaching the babies at the daycare what thunder and lightning are, one girl sees Skits. Truman goes out and lets him in and realises that Skits wants to get away from the thunder when he hides under Truman's bed. To Skits's disappointment, however, Truman brings him home.
Skits runs off again and into the car of a woman and her baby son Zane. When the woman sees Skits in the car, she takes him home as well, but he runs away again. He goes into the mall, only to be thrown out because dogs aren't allowed. Someone calls Kazuo, who finds Skits and tries to take him with him, but Skits runs away, with Kazuo giving chase. Skits bumps into a hot dog stand, and a hot dog falls down, but he is scared away by thunder before he can eat it. Kazuo eventually corners Skits in an alleyway and takes him home. On the way, he tries helping Skits with his fear by playing music, but it doesn't work.
While Kazuo and Helen clean up a knocked-over bin, Skits runs away again and meets Boomer from "Martha Calling", who's lost his glasses again. He enjoys being rained on, since it reminds him of the sea. Then, Skits runs off and finds himself trapped in a bowling alley, with the sound of the bowling balls reminding him of the sound of the thunder.
A man opens the door, so Skits escapes and finds Boomer again. Skits leads Boomer to a bus, which is being driven by Danny. Danny drops Boomer off at the marina and Skits off at the Lorraine house. While Skits plays in the mud, he tries to tell Martha about his exploits, but she doesn't understand. Then, the dogs become fearful when the weather lady predicts hail.

- Filthy Fun: Towards the end, Skits rolls in some mud.
- Happy Rain: Downplayed. While most find the rain to be a nuisance, Boomer loves being out in the rain.
- Heat Wave Episode: Subverted. The episode begins with very hot weather, but it's soon replaced by a storm.
- Here We Go Again!: At the end of the episode, the storm is over... but the dogs are worried because the weather lady forecasts hail the next day.
