Go To

Dan is working part time at a ramen restaurant to make ends meet when he and the other Zyurangers learn Bandora is mining under his workplace for a special clay that would create stronger Dora Monsters.

Tropes

  • Breath Weapon / Deadly Gas / Technicolor Toxin: Mining the Dokita Clay produces a poisonous red gas that causes cockroaches to crawl up to the surface. Dora Franke can spew that same gas.
  • Cliffhanger / Downer Ending: Bandora acquires the Dokita clay while Dora Franke overpowers Daizyujin.
  • CallBack: Totpat and Bookbuck once more appear in their human guises.
  • Earthquakes Cause Fissures: Bandora's group mining for Dokita clay causes tremors that eventually causes the ramen restaurant above to collapse.
  • Frankenstein's Monster: This episode's Monster of the Week, Dora Franke's design clearly inspired by Jack Pierce's iconic version of the Monster in the Universal 1931 horror classic.
  • Instant Chucks: Dora Franke can actually just pull the large metal bolts out of his neck, which are then suddenly connected by a chain, giving him an effective set of nunchucks. The concept uses a bit of Hammerspace mixed with a little bit of MST3K Mantra.
  • Human Disguise: Played straight with Totpat and Bookbuck.
  • Make My Monster Grow: Done by Bandora to Dora Franke.
  • Monster of the Week: Dora Franke.
  • No-Sell: Daizyujin is unable to land a hit on Dora Franke, a Dora Monster made of Dokita clay, with Godhorn.
  • Once a Season: As per the bi-annual formula of Super Sentai in which the Monsters of the Week undergo an upgrade, Bandora and his gang dig up a new kind of clay to create stronger Dora Monsters, the first one being Dora Franke.
  • One-Hour Work Week: The Zyurangers work part time jobs: Dan at a ramen restaurant, Mei in fastfood, Boy in delivery, and Goushi in traffic.
  • Paper-Thin Disguise: Dora Franke is wearing a headband and contact lenses.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: Dora Franke's natural eye color.
  • The Worf Effect: As a Dora Monster made of Dokita clay, Dora Franke overpowers Dan, before and after being joined by the other Zyurangers, and later Daizyujin.
