Recap / Kaeloo S 2 E 31 Lets Play Party

Go To

In this Valentine's Day Episode, Kaeloo throws a Valentine's Day party for all of her friends. Mr. Cat ruins the party in a misguided attempt to get Kaeloo to be his Valentine.

"Let's Play Party" contains the following tropes:

  • Accidental Kiss: Stumpy is kicked into the air by a sheep, causing him to land face first on Eugly with their lips touching.
  • Ballroom Blitz: The party ends up being a total disaster, mostly thanks to Mr. Cat, and ends with everyone getting into a huge fight.
  • Big Ball of Violence: The fight between Stumpy, Quack Quack, Pretty, and Eugly is shown as one of these.
  • Calling Your Bathroom Breaks: Kaeloo casually tells the audience that she has to pee before walking offscreen.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: When Kaeloo sees Pretty trying to hug Mr. Cat, she angrily starts yelling at her and trying to get her away from him under the guise of "children are watching this", but, as Pretty points out, she conveniently ignores Quack Quack and Eugly hugging each other.
  • First-Name Ultimatum: Kaeloo does this to everyone (except Mr. Cat, whose first name isn't revealed to the audience, but is still yelled at anyway).
  • Furry Reminder: Mr. Cat affectionately rubs his head against Bad Kaeloo, like a real cat would do.
  • It's All About Me: Mr. Cat takes his selfishness to a whole new level in this episode by ruining the party for everyone else and sabotaging Quack Quack and Eugly's loving reationship in his attempts to romance Kaeloo.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Mr. Cat fails to get Kaeloo to be his date and ends up getting beaten up by Bad Kaeloo.
  • Let Us Never Speak of This Again: Kaeloo, a hermaphrodite, and Stumpy, a boy, both enter the girls' bathroom. They both find each other there and ask what the other is doing in there. After an awkward silence, both of them silently agree not to ever speak about it again.
  • Mistaken for an Imposter: Stumpy is waiting for Ursula to show up to the party, but then he suddenly gets the idea that someone at the party is Ursula in disguise, spying on him. He decides that it must be Pretty, and he tries to rip her face off, thinking it's a mask.
  • Mistaken for Cheating: Mr. Cat's lies convince Quack Quack that Eugly is cheating on him, so when he sees Stumpy and Eugly have an Accidental Kiss, he assumes that Eugly is cheating on him with Stumpy.
  • Not a Mask: See Mistaken for an Imposter above.
  • Relationship Sabotage: Mr. Cat tricks Quack Quack into breaking up with Eugly by showing him (obviously fake) pictures of her cheating on him with other characters, as part of an elaborate scheme to get Kaeloo to kiss him.
  • "Shaggy Dog" Story: Mr. Cat tries to ruin Kaeloo's Valentine's Day party as part of an elaborate scheme to get her to be his date. He successfully ruins the party by messing things up for all the other characters, but at this point Kaeloo is so mad by how things went down that she punches him instead of kissing him. So not only did Mr. Cat get his heart broken, everyone else went through a lot of suffering for nothing.
  • Stealth Pun: When Mr. Cat decides to lie to Quack Quack to ruin his relationship with Eugly, he slithers onto the couch on his belly instead of walking towards it. He was being a literal snake.
  • Valentine's Day Episode: The episode takes place at a Valentine's Day party.
