Original air date: 10/28/2021

The ghosts are unable to get into the Halloween spirit, being unable to participate and believing it to be insulting to ghosts. Taking advantage of Sam's ability to see and hear them, the ghosts guard the mansion against trick-or-treat vandals, but are distracted by the prospect of watching Ghostbusters.

Tropes:

  • Bedsheet Ghost: Mentioned by Pete, the reason why ghosts think that Halloween mocks them and belittles their very existense.
  • Blatant Lies: The ghosts try to blame the young vandals for burning the gazebo down.
  • Continuity Nod: The cops who come to investigate the gazebo burning down are the same ones who caught Sam and Jay setting the canoe on fire in "Viking Funeral".
  • Didn't Think This Through: As punishment for burning down the gazebo, Sam denies them their television privileges. Unfortunately, that means the ghosts now have to stare at Sam and Jay for entertainment.
  • Double Take: Sasappis gives one while trying to insist that he was married and had sex forty-three times with his wife. Thorfinn affirms his story due to watching said sexual intercourse. Sasappis thanks him before going, "Wait, what?"
  • Funny Background Event: When Samantha and Jay call the police after their gazebo burns down, as the officers ask if they have seen anything unusual, Crash the headless greaser walks by in the background.
  • Halloween Episode: It's Exactly What It Says on the Tin; Sam and Jay are dressed as Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly from Step Brothers.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: In-Universe - Now that he is a ghost, Trevor finds Ghostbusters far less amusing.
  • Lap Pillow: In the end scene Jay is lounging in Sam's lap.
  • Oh, Crap!: Thorfinn accidentally sets the gazebo on fire while trying to turn off the lights. The results are not pretty.
  • Sexy Whatever Outfit: When Trevor talks about Halloween, he mentions a woman dressed up as a sexy version of Bobby Boucher from The Waterboy.
  • Shout-Out: Ghostbusters and Step Brothers.
  • Slow Clap: After Trevor gives a powerful speech that they shouldn't blame the kids for Thorfinn's fire, he slow claps his own speech which makes the others join in.
  • Throat-Slitting Gesture: Sam calls on one of the kids who prank the house every Halloween, and his mother takes him to apologize. But as soon as the mother's back is turned, the kid does the slashing gesture to indicate that payback is coming.
  • Van Helsing Hate Crime: Invoked after Trevor, Pete and Alberta watch Ghostbusters on TV and become uncomfortable with how the ghosts in the movie are treated.
