Recap / Empath: The Luckiest Smurf - Grouchy And The Love Doll

Go To

Grouchy, being jealous of Empath being married to Smurfette, creates for himself a love doll that he could express his feelings for, when the doll comes to life.

This story provides examples of:

  • As the Good Book Says...: Count on Tapper to do this throughout the story.
  • Bolt of Divine Retribution: Angel meets her end when a lightning bolt caused by a thundercloud created by Tapper and Duncan McSmurf strikes her physical form, incinerating it instantly.
  • Book Ends: The story starts and ends with Grouchy being in the Imaginarium with his fantasy female Smurf to have sex with.
  • Character Name and the Noun Phrase: The title of this story fits this trope.
  • Companion Cube: Grouchy's love doll Angel. Until she comes to life.
  • Demonic Possession: Grouchy's love doll is possessed by a Cubus spirit, which preys upon lonely souls by feeding on their life spirits through sex.
  • Did You Just Have Sex?: Not only does Duncan McSmurf with his particular sense of smell detect that Grouchy has been having sex with his doll in his own house, but Papa Smurf can smell it as well. Even Greedy, who is normally a cook, could smell that of both Grouchy and Angel when Angel comes to life.
  • Do You Want to Copulate?: In the fan art picture for the story, Grouchy gives a loving leer at the now-animate (and now-real) Angel (the titular love doll) and asks if she wants to "smurf to my shroom and smurf under my hat?" and Angel says that she would love to.
  • The Internet Is for Porn: Right off the bat, we see Grouchy using the Imaginarium for a...um, private interaction with a Smurfette.
  • Kiss Me, I'm Virtual: The story starts with Grouchy being in bed with Angel as an Imaginarium fantasy character, and waking up from a night of sex (implied). It also ends with Grouchy meeting with the same character again in the same setting.
  • Make a Wish: Grouchy makes a wish that Angel would be real. Then Angel becomes a real female, although it turns out that a Cubus spirit has possessed Grouchy's doll.
  • Making Love in All the Wrong Places: After Angel comes to life, Angel tells Grouchy that she wants to make love with him in public. Grouchy tries to reason with her that there are certain things that can only be enjoyed in private, and so they just settle for kissing each other... until Papa Smurf shows up.
  • Mate or Die: Once Angel becomes animate, she tells Grouchy that he must make love to her or else she will die.
  • Out with a Bang: Grouchy almost dies, through intercourse with the Cubus spirit inhabiting his love doll. Fortunately Angel is destroyed by a lightning bolt, choosing to sacrifice herself before she finishes the job.
  • Proscenium Reveal: The story starts with Grouchy waking up with a female Smurf beside him in bed, implying that they had sex together. Then after Grouchy gets up, he reveals that the whole thing was an Imaginarium fantasy setting.
  • Pygmalion Plot: Grouchy creates a love doll for himself, which then comes to life, only to find out that the doll has been possessed by a Cubus spirit.
  • Right Through the Wall: Grouchy's sexual grunts could be heard through the walls of his Smurf house.
  • Shower of Love: Discussed between Grouchy and Angel when Angel comes to life as a real person, during the scene where Angel wants to make love to Grouchy in public, and Grouchy says that there are some things that can only be enjoyed in private like taking a bath or a shower, and Angel says that she would like to have a bath or shower with Grouchy.
  • Sliding Scale of Living Toys: Angel is Real and Living To Everyone when she comes to life.
  • Succubi and Incubi: A Cubus spirit inhabits Grouchy's love doll Angel and brings it to life.
