During the holiday season, Porkchop is accused of being vicious by biting Beebe at Lucky Duck Lake, and Doug has to prove to Bluffington that his dog is innocent in order to prevent him from being put down.

Tropes:

  • Beware the Quiet Ones: Invoked by Judy as she reacts in horror to Porkchop biting someone.
Judy: It's always the quiet ones!
  • Chair Reveal: Doug does this when all his action personas ask who gathered them together.
  • Christmas Episode: And a rather depressing one at that.
  • Danger — Thin Ice: The event that kicks off the whole plot is Porkchop saving Beebe from falling through some thin ice by biting her leg and dragging her to safety. When she falls through it during the climax, thus proving to her father that Porkchop did not attack her intentionally, Porkchop rescues her again, thus vindicating himself and Mr. Bluff apologizes and drops the charges against Porkchop, before then asking the Funnies how he can atone for his behavior and thank Porkchop for his heroism.
  • Great Escape: After his petition fails along with his attempt to talk to Beebe directly, Doug decides to break Porkchop out of the pound with the help of Quailman, Race Canyon, and Smash Adams.
  • Heel Realization: Bill Bluff after seeing Beebe fall through the thin ice, realizing Porkchop didn't hurt his daughter intentionally and had tried to save her life earlier. After Porkchop saves her from freezing to death or hypothermia, Bill atones for his prejudice by hosting a dinner for Porkchop and all the dogs at the pound, with Porkchop the guest of honor.
  • Jail Bake: Doug tries to use this method to bust Porkchop out of the pound by smuggling in a smoke bomb disguised as a cupcake, but the pound ends up having a strict no cupcakes rule.
  • Kangaroo Court: Not only is a dog being put on trial, but his lawyer, Doug, is barely allowed to defend him.
  • Malicious Slander: The reenactment of Beebe being bitten by Porkchop is full of Blatant Lies. Porkchop is portrayed as a Bully Bulldog who shakes her flailing body around with its mouth.
Doug: Hey, wait a minute! That’s not what happened!
  • No Good Deed Goes Unpunished: Porkchop literally saves Beebe life and nearly gets put to sleep for it.
  • Oh, Crap!: Bill Bluff has one when he sees Beebe fall into Lucky Duck Lake due to the thin ice giving way beneath her, finally realizing Porkchop did NOT injure Beebe on purpose, and now because of his anger against Porkchop, he's about to lose his daughter and heir to the family fortune because of it.
  • Over The Top Christmas Decorations: The Dinks’ house is covered in Christmas lights and decorations.
  • Pets as a Present: Doug thinks back to when he got Porkchop as a Christmas present when he was little.
  • Pounds Are Animal Prisons: Very much so. Porkchop is taken away like he’s being arrested, is driven to the pound in a police vehicle, and even has a mugshot taken.
  • Record Needle Scratch: The Funnies’ music comes scratching to a stop when Doug receives a letter from Beebe’s lawyer.
  • Shouting Free-for-All: Doug calls all his fantasy personas to figure out how to get Porkchop out of the pound. After several attempts fail, they all start arguing and shouting all at once until Doug realizes he shouldn't be trying to solve the problem the way they would anyway. He then decides to take care of it his way.
  • Snow Means Death: It begins to snow as Doug mourns the fact that nothing he did was able to help Porkchop and he very well may be put to sleep.
  • Storefront Television Display: While passing by a store window, Doug sees a news report about Beebe recovering in the hospital as Porkchop is incarcerated in the local pound.
  • Unexpectedly Dark Episode: Having a Christmas episode be based around a character’s beloved pet nearly being put to sleep was certainly…a choice.
  • Was Too Hard on Him: Doug worries he was too hard on Porkchop after he yelled at him and sent him to his igloo doghouse.
  • Wham Episode: This episode is quite infamous among fans for its dramatic subject matter.
